The retirement, approved by the Town Board in a closed executive session Monday night, ends the disciplinary hearing against Assistant Chief Stephen E. Mikac that could have resulted in his termination.
Town Attorney Kenneth Farrell refused to discuss the terms of the settlement, and Mikac said he is prevented from disclosing the agreement. Town Board members Amy Ziegler and Joseph Collins also said they were told not to reveal details.
