On this day in 1917 - The U.S. Senate voted to limit filibusters by adopting the cloture rule.
It required a 2/3 majority or 67 votes to end filibusters.
In 1975 the Senate reduced that number to 60.
In 2015 Hairy Reid changed that to a simple majority even though he was warned it would come back and bite him in the ass.
On November 8th 2016 it did.
