The above statements are taken directly off of the BOE's District " Newsletter " that we got yesterday.

NYS ED pays the Charter School funding monies annually to the Lackawanna School District bank account .....meaning only that LSD is the pass-through agency that Global Concepts draws their funding through.

The above statement is twisting the truth to imply that the Charter School highly affects the LSD Budget and it is out of their control.
    Well.....here is the spin:
    1. The newsletter statement makes it sound like costs associated with the Charter School add into increasing costs to the tax payer by being "" UNCONTROLLABLE FISCAL EXPENSES"".
    2. The truth is that the Charter School takes away a couple hundred students/children for a variety of reasons, that they feel should be going to LSD.
    3. They resent the monies passing through LSD and funding the Charter School because it is less revenue for LSD.

If LSD/BOE were really concerned they would do everything in their power to enhance all buildings, stimulate learning by stepping out of the box to offer creative courses, and stay on top of teaching staff in the classroom to ensure the highest quality of learning is being taught........in other words RAISE THE BAR in LACKAWANNA SCHOOLS in an attempt to woe these kids/families back!

Lame excuses again. Didn't NYS ED. label us a "troubled school".
I am sick of the Charter School money being blamed---used as a crutch of an excuse as to why the tax LEVY increase is out of their control!
    Enough!

" increase amounts to ONLY 1.5% INCREASE "
    Stop, an increase is an increase......and for 2012/13', 2013/14', 2014/15', etc.! UP-UP-UP-!

Stop putting the blame on the Charter School and put the blame where the blame is due!

You're absolutely correct. These people forgot who is the boss and that is the taxpayer. All their power is derived by the will of the people and they treat the people as if they were fools. It is time that they wake up and smell the coffee. A Vote NO and we take back control.

Vote NO. Then they can lay off several more teachers, cut programs, eliminate all sports, clubs and extracuricular activities, close the pool and gyms. Yeah, you'll show them.

Another scare tactic from the dark side, Hello, skrew in the lightbulb. Now the pool and gym get real. Next you'll throw in the lunches and say the kids won't eat.

A charter school is permitted only in a school district that is considered below par to offer parents another PUBLIC SCHOOL choice for their children. Does Hamburg have any Charter Schools? NO!
Does West Seneca? NO? You ca go on and on but where are they? Buffalo and Lackawanna. That is the State's answer to offering help.

When a child leaves their home school district their public school $$$ goes witht them to the Charter School. That is the law. Don't like it? Improve the school system so parents are not forced to choose another option!

One of the reasons taxes are going up they stated was the " CHARTER SCHOOL TUITIONS ", was it not?

Please! YOU just keep giving personal attacks when we tell the TRUTH about an issue or topic.

And when the kid is a problem at the charter school or is performing poorly, they ship em back to lhs!

This is the average cost per student. It doesn't matter if you are Regents, General Studies, Special Education, Middle School, Elementary, etc.

We don't spend nearly as much as others have to spend on their students in advanced courses. So it is wash. If you are going to debate that we spend more on Special Education students then you also have to consider that other schools have to spend more for their advanced classes then we spend and all schools have special ed students.

I gave you the formula you need to use it.

You're very good at manipulating statistics to suit your agenda. What about Buffalo and City of Tonawanda? Why did you leave them off your list? Could it be they're in line with Lackawanna and a very high percentage of special ed students?

    Per EDUCATION.COM

    Tonawanda .................$13,043.......................Rat e 7 out of 10...................Ratio 13 to 1

    Lackawanna.................$18,565................ .......Rate 3 out of 10...................Ratio 12 to 1

We not are going near Buffalo. That is the most disfunctional school district in the state. Do we really want to compare our city to that.

What don't you understand? LOOK IT UP YOURSELF at Education.com.

Last data that is retrievable on the net is 2008 for Special Education under the direction of Christine Sawran. That was four years ago. Where is the current data? Aren't we doing our job? Don't we get aid from the state for the Special Education?

Your brain is washed if you think special ed and advanced classes are comparable from lackawanna to any other district, please post how much money each of the districts spends on special ed students! An average cost per student at Lhs is bull if it compares to the actual cost per student in another school. lets seee the numbers!
