SO what do we all think about a domed stadium built downtown in Buffalo

Is it worth entertaining the thought? Biggest question is who would pay for it.

no tax money should be spent on it. The Bills want a new stadium they can pay the bill
Vote for freedom, not political parties.
    Politicians need to cut spending

A domed stadium is premature. The story we've been told so far is: If Ralph Wilson dies, the team will have to be sold. To the best of my knowledge, no one with the resources has stepped forward yet. What if it gets started and Ralph dies? What guarantees are there that the Bills will stay in Buffalo.

It's an interested topic to discuss, but the future is uncertain.

AND remember this. Our community has been sold many idea that never had the economic impact they stated.

If someone wants pay for it make it as easy for them as possible. Just don't put the net-taxpayer on the hook.

It's going to be hard to find someone with that kind of money. I don't think we have a Jerry Jones in Western New York. Which is why I'm not optimistic about the Bills staying here and I doubt the stadium will ever get built without taxpayer dollars. Okay, I doubt it will ever get built. It's just another idea being kicked around. If the Bills are still here in 20 years, I'll bet the politicians will still be talking about it.

And the politicians may tell us it won't cost taxpayers, but someone's got to pay for the roads, traffic control, and a million other things. There's always hidden costs they want to remain hidden.

Anyone remember the fate of the domed stadium in Lancaster?

That is why it is good to stir the pot. The crap floats to the top...

Same reason why sometimes you need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. It is sometimes the only way to get to the crud in the drain.

If the bills produce a net positive for the county, then sure, build it. If they're a net negative, dump them.

Has to be a net positive for who ever ends up paying the bill. Don't drop 700,000,000 million on the tax payers to generate peanuts.

    Rough example..

    http://www.buffalobills.com/news/art...6-dc64ef529205

ORCHARD PARK, NY – The Buffalo Bills today announced ticket pricing for the team’s 2010 season. The average per game price for a Buffalo Bills season ticket will be $59.19 for eight home games at Ralph Wilson Stadium (seven regular season games and one preseason game).
80,000 seats x average ticket price X sale tax (county only) = What?

    80,000 X $60 = 4,800,000 X 8.75% = $420,000 per game. State/County

    80,000 X $60 = 4,800,000 X 4.75% = $228,000 per game. Erie County only. Correct?

    8 possible home games X $228,000 = $1,824,000 per year.

How much does the county spend now for upkeep?

If someone has the funds to bank roll this let them but otherwise our "government" has no business funding sport arenas.

There is next to no economic impact for the average WNY'er. You will have some businesses profit from the bills but that's about it. OH the developer who wins the bid makes out well but once built no one else should be on the hook for any of the cost.
