The Bufnews reports:

LOCKPORT - The Town of Lockport Industrial Development Agency is close to an agreement for construction of a business incubator building in the town's industrial park.

Thursday, the IDA board heard from two representatives of the likely developer, a group led by McGuire Development Co. of Buffalo.

"We hope to make an agreement in a week or two with your group," Jeffrey P. Lehrbach, McGuire vice president and chief financial officer, told the board.

Mark D. Molnar of Wendel Cos., another partner in the group, said the initial proposal is to erect a 16,000-square-foot building on a 2.5-acre parcel at Enterprise and IDA Park drives.
The favored developer group, which also includes RP Oak Hill Development, submitted a proposal covering 5.1 acres of the 16 acres the IDA is seeking to develop.
"We've borrowed from what has been a very successful arrangement the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency has with David Chamberlain," town IDA director David R. Kinyon said.

The county IDA granted Chamberlain a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes to construct a multitenant facility in the county's industrial park in Wheatfield.

"Payment-in-lue-of-taxes" - WOW what a fancy way of saying they wont have to pay their share of property taxes, sales taxes and so on. Once again tax payers will subsidize development. Home owners don't get breaks for building a home or expanding the one they already have - they get reassessed and taxes increased.

These IDA give aways are funded by tax dollars - the projects they support depend on not paying the same assessments and taxes home owners have no choice but to pay.

Many area's have increased home owners assessment - this increases home owner taxes - do home owners have a right to ask for tax decreases when the market stalls or its not profitable to pay the current levy - NO!

When will taxpaying voters stand up and say, "Enough is enough"!
