Eliminate a fire company and that ends the need for a replacement fire station, so therefore it is the same subject. What planet are you on?
Its funny you should mention that......since you were the one bringing up brush fires, why they need a brush truck, and NO the replacement of a current fire station is not the same topic as closing fire departments. I was just telling you why they needed the equipment you were saying was unnesessary.
Eliminate a fire company and that ends the need for a replacement fire station, so therefore it is the same subject. What planet are you on?
Always great to hear your consistently rational input mnb!

Boston Fire company is contracted to respond to calls in concord, concord pays them to cover the northern end of town, They are not going anywhere. Patchin Fire co. is a private company owned by the membership. They do not just give the hall to the Boston fire co. if a company is not given a contract. the hall, land, euipment is sold. The engine on cole rd. needs to stay there, It takes about a week and a day for any trucks in the valley to get up the east hill to that end of town. Boston Station on zimmerman has the tanker for that end of town and concord that has no water, again, it takes a week and a day to get there from the valley.
You're probably right. I wouldn't give it away either.
Parting it out is probably the best idea.
Do you know if the tower is welded or bolted together ?
If it's welded, it will need to be cut apart to move it and that will probably hold the value down.
If it's bolted and you have the original assembly drawing, it would probably fetch a much better price.

Anyone know what the Towns insurance rating is?
I think the "Week and a day" comments were just babble - not literal.
You do make a great point though and I appreciate your positive attitude.
With N.Boston - Patchin @2.3 miles and Boston - Patchin @2.1 you are correct........
Even with traffic delays, we are still very well covered and for that we should be proud!
If we could set up some prevention programs with the $280K savings, we might be able to do even better.
Does anybody know whether the sale proceeds would be given back to the Town or divided among the membership ?

Sales from what?Does anybody know whether the sale proceeds would be given back to the Town or divided among the membership ?
I'm late to this discussion but when a fire company orders a new truck don't they submit specs for what truck they want. so areas have to have light trucks because of the roads some must reach high or what ever they need. I'm sure you can order a truck that would fit into existing doors. it's not like you go to a show room floor and pick out red one. custom made trucks are just that custom made to fit what you require
One good thing about growing old is your secrets are safe with your friends they can't remember them either
Yes you are correct, you can order smaller trucks. They already own one as a matter of fact. The problem is a small truck does not do all the same things or hold the same equipment. The engines with large water tanks and all the requirements to meet nfpa standards of an attack pumper are getting bigger.
Do you know Slitter? A smart person never asks a question he does not already know the answer to. -jay
And to Boston99........so predictable.
You get called out.
You disappear for a day or so.
You come back and attack someone else.
Faceless. Anonymous. Powerless. Pathetic.
Once again I ask......are you and your friends sensing a familiar theme here?
You entertain me. That is nice. I know you are probably way too busy for all this stuff anyway. Busy trying to sell that property. Don’t worry. The market will come back.
Don’t think of it as taking a beating. (Hell, you can do that right here) Think of it as an investment in your lonely future. It will pay off. I really believe that.
If you still had a spouse, you could enjoy it together.-jay
ISO’s Public Protection Classification (PPC™) program evaluates a community’s overall capability to suppress structure fires. Most U.S. insurers of homes and business property use the PPC in calculating premiums. In general, the price of fire insurance in a community with a good PPC is substantially lower than in a community with a poor PPC, assuming all other factors are equal.
ISO’s evaluation looks at your community’s fire alarm and communications systems, water-supply system, and fire department. For the fire department, the evaluation includes criteria for apparatus, equipment, staffing, training, and the geographical distribution of fire companies. Your community’s PPC depends on your performance on all those measures, as set forth in ISO’s Fire Suppression Rating Schedule.
