    1) After the consolidation goes through, we should be set for quite some time.

    2) Horses would be too slow.

    3) The number is not majic, but to answer you, it is 2. Two fire halls.

You sure ask some simple questions.

Answer to question one: When they no longer can be rebuilt.

Answer to question two: Horses went out of style in 1930's you have a motor vehicle now don't you? Don't be a smartass.

Answer to question three: See answer to question one. A diesel motor should last a million plus miles so......

Or I'm liking Over the Valley's answer CONSOLIDATION!!!

I just cant seem to understand where you think our fire companies spend money on things just because they want them. The trucks are kept in service longer than many other fire companies keep theirs in service. None of the 3 fire companies have vehicles provided for their chiefs, other fire companies have 3 or 4 and replace those every 5 years too.

maybe what these fire companies should have been doing was replacing trucks every ten years and buying 3 chief trucks for each company replacing them every 5 years. Then when they ditched the chiefs vehicles and started replacing trucks every 25 years you would have been the first to say. WOW how great of these companies to save us tax dollars. Its people like you that are never happy, probably sitting alone at your computer getting ready to surf porn when you done on this blog because your signifigant other cant stand your negativity.

So maybe the companies should replace their trucks every 40 years, you will be happy for a year or two, then you will say they should replace them every 50 years to save tax dollars.

Did your mother not give you enough love? you probably drove her to it because when she bought the Nikes for you when you were a kid you told her she was wasting good money on them when she could have bought you the $20 pair at Gold Circle. You know mom, this is a rough economy, we should be saving..........O yea, and that government cheese you keep bringing home is paid for by tax dollars, so bring that **** back!!!!

Do you really need the newest bestest most shiny equiptment or do you just need something that gets the job done? My bet is the latter. Rebuild your existing equiptment save the money and keep the smaller garage doors. You boys seriously need a huge dose of common sense. Money saved can be used elsewhere for other things you guys might need. There's a bigger picture that people do not think about and in order to right the sinking ship you need to start at the bottom as well as the top.
Nope no grant for a truck. Bostons last tanker was purchased new with a loan, but their rescue was bought used...........no grant money there

I always wore a pair of buddy's no nike's for me.LOL Still have old personal vehicles to so if it works and is in good shape why replace is my point when its cheaper to rebuild and last another 15years. It's not like the thing is being driven a couple hundred miles a day and the motor is shot.

    Wow!

Mothers, porn, sneakers, horses and government cheese. Really?

I thought we were discussing double and triple counting calls and whether or not we should spend $750K to make you feel safe.

    Stay focused. You're confusing yourself.

Loan payments are spread out so whatever the town gives will be sufficient. As I said, find a year that the budget jumped up the same year someone purchased a truck.

No, I respect my mom and dad for making do on what we had. That's how most people learn lessons rather than spending other people's hard earned money.Obviously you haven't read the previous post about my vehicles which are a 92 Ranger and a 99 Intrepid.

DiNapoli: OP Fire District misused money

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - New York's fiscal watchdog is keeping tabs on the Orchard Park Fire District. An audit released Friday calls into question the use of more than a million dollars in taxpayer money.

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says the district made available cash and other assets to an organization it had no legal authority to create or subsidize.

"They transferred their ambulance service authority to a private corporation, but continued to, in effect, subsidize that private corporation in ways that are not provided for under New York State law and regulation," explained DiNapoli.

Specifically, an audit by the comptroller's office found the value of fire district assets given, loaned or leased tops one million dollars. The not-for-profit, Orchard Park Fire District-EMS, was created in 2009, attorney Michael Clelus says, because it needed better response times.

    >> View the State Comptroller's Audit of the Orchard Park Fire District

    >> News 4's Rich Newberg has been following this story since January

"There's nothing nefarious. It's a complete open book," he contended.

Chelus calls it an innovative way for the district to improve. He says not only have response times been better, but the fire tax has been reduced.

He argued, "The reality is that the not-for-profit corporation is a totally separate entity approved by the State of New York. Totally separate."

DiNapoli called it a plan with good intentions. But he says the fire district did not follow what was required under state law.

"That's an interpretation. As I say, it's a brand new area and it's a question of what is the most appropriate way to deliver better service to the taxpayers," said Chelus.

DiNapoli countered, "Ambulance service is an important service. But once it became a service provided by a private entity, you cannot mix taxpayer money to support a private entity, no matter how worthy the service is that they're providing."

Below is a release from DiNapoli's office:

The Orchard Park Fire District lacked authority to finance the formation and operations of a not-for-profit corporation it set up to provide emergency rescue and first aid services, according to an audit released today by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

“This situation serves as an example to other fire districts statewide as the way not to do public safety,” DiNapoli said. “The fire district made available cash and other assets totaling more than $1.3 million to an organization it had no legal authority to create or subsidize. In addition, the district improperly granted service credit under its length of service award program (LOSAP) to volunteer firefighters for driving ambulances for the not-for-profit.

The value of fire district assets given, loaned or leased is:

    Vehicles- $651,037
    Building- $407,672
    Loans- $200,000
    Resident Co Pays- $57,997
    Miscellaneous Costs- $34,582
    Total- $1,351,288

DiNapoli’s auditors called on the fire district to cease subsidizing the not-for-profit, created in 2009 and known as Orchard Park Fire District-EMS Inc. DiNapoli also advised the district to stop granting LOSAP credit to volunteer firefighters for driving ambulances for EMS Inc.

Under state law, fire districts have limited authority to contract with private ambulance services to provide “back-up” service. EMS Inc. is clearly not providing a “back-up” service because, among other things, the fire district transferred its “ambulance operating authority” to EMS Inc. and no longer has authority to operate an ambulance auditors found.

Point I am making is that money is being blown everywhere. Its nice to keep an eye on things and question the way we do business.
