The Lancaster Central School District (LCSD) will hold a budget work session Monday evening (March 5, 2012) at the J. Norman Hayes Administration Building, 177 Central Avenue, Lancaster, 6:30pm.

The budget work session will feature:

PRESENTATION – Tax Cap Calculation Update – Miss Jamie Phillips
STAFFING AND SCHEDULE D – Miss Jamie Phillips
INSTRUCTIONAL BUDGET – Dr. Michael Vallely and Miss Jamie Phillips
WORK SESSION SCHEDULE – Miss Jamie Phillips
PUBLIC HEARING

The LCSD Board of Education (BOE) encourages the public to attend and participate in the process. What should be of major concern to the public is that this portion of the budget spending is increasing by $2.93 million, 6.85%.

The BOE wishes to inform the public that $1.3 Million of the $2.9 Million increase to the instructional section of the budget are positions that are returning to the general fund budget after a one year displacement to the federal fund as a result of the federal JOBS grant. The $1.3 Million reflects 26.6 FTE (Full Time Employee) positions.

The increase to the instructional section of the budget without the JOS funded positions is $1.6 Million; 3.8% budget increase.

Once again this budget work session conflicts with the Town Board meeting. The BOE encourages the public to attend and anticipate in the process, and then holds the last two work sessions on the same night of the Town Board meeting. Go figure!
