It would be interesting to see if it's possible to get items up to vote for any of our towns in Erie County.
Question about term limits for all Elected Officals.
1. How does one go about getting a Town Board to vote for Term limits for all elected officals in their Town.
2. How does one get term limits put up for a vote if the Town Board does not want to set term limits on themselves ? Petition ????
3. Can term limits apply to elected officals that are already in office for many years ?
Thanks for any replies !!!

I don't think there is a general citizen proposition or referendum provision for Towns. I think a petition can force a town board to submit a passed law to a referendum, but I don't think a petition can force the Town board to vote on a proposal or force a referendum on a proposal the town has not yet adopted.
If I'm correct, then the only way may be for you to get elected to the town board so that you can make such a proposal.
You could run on the campaign promise that once elected you'll fight for term limits and you'll keep running for re-election until you get a term limit bill passed.
Here's a town that tried to petition the town board:

I never said I had no idea about most of the things you said I said I had no idea about.
I think term limits are good because I don't think "public service" should be a career. The more diversity we have in elected office the better.
But we can impose term limits by simply never voting for an incumbent. If a majority won't vote out incumbents then it is unlikely they'll vote for term limits.
The problem is that most (but of course not all) people in favor of term limits change their minds as soon as their favored candidates are in office.
Moreover, in many local situations it isn't the term limits per person but rather the term limits per family or party that are needed, and that can only be done at the voting booth.
