As for hotels and restaraunts...If you haven't noticed, the hotels that are on Slade are always crowded year round, but they're packed with soccer parents and hockey parents when there are tournies in town.
You can pretend that the families visiting West Seneca for soccer and hockey tournies don't spend money here, eat here, or sleep here, but that would be ridiculous.

When the pool, parks, and senior center go, the ice rink can go.
Might as well move to Lackawanna we have nothing except that vote getting machine called the senior center....I'd take your pool and ice rink anyday of the week they can layoff their friends to pay for it.

I'm interested to hear DT's take on the situation, are the four options (listed below) being explored? Why not allow the non-profit group to raise their own money for a ice rink. What are we voting on? Will we have the option to say 'no' to everything?

    Not mentioned:
    1) Current fair market value.
2)Current taxable value if sold to a private entity or person.
    3)Savings to taxpayers if sold.
4)Cost of demolition. And the value of the land if sold.

I believe the bond resolution would be subject to a referendum not necessarily how it is to be expended. So it would more than likely read something to the effect of:

Shall the Town of West Seneca issue bonds in the amount of ______________ for the reconstruction or repair of the town ice rink? Yes No

From the article in this WS Bee it appears that there are still bonds out on the current ice rink and that the TB and Controller were unable to answer many questions regarding the current situation with it in response to citizen questioning.
