Non-contributing members* may promote their products, websites and/or services in this community only on our "EVENTS" board and must pertain to the beneficial entities of Western New York and the many municipalities within. Promotional threads are limited to a single post with no bumping* allowed. Non-contributing members may support their product/service when questions are asked by the general membership including defending products/services or company/website merits.

As noted above, the Advertisement policy applies to signatures used by posters as well. All members are prohibited from displaying any form links or slogans that promote their own products, services and/or website in a signature.

Short answer no its not ok to advertise here.

Non-Contributing members are members who don't participate regularly, but may have a fund raiser or something they want to promote, but do not otherwise participate in the forums here

How lets say your a plumbing company who has been sort of helping people with simple questions/answers. I wouldn't mind at all if they had their web link in their signature. Or if a real estate agent joins but answers home buying/selling questions but has their web site link in their sig. The relationship has to be valuable for both sides. Plus another important thing is I wouldn't want someone on the site that would promote someone that is directly in competition with what I do.

I just checked out that buffalo's finest site and noticed ads for other web hosting companies. See what I mean? I own onlinemedia.net. Why would I want to send traffic to a site that is mostly 95% local Buffalo people to a site that promotes a company that directly competes with me? See what I mean?
