Exclamation 13% raises Alden Town Board

The Alden Town board is planning on giving themselves a 13% raise for 2012. They believe they are entitled to it do to the vote to down size the board from 5 to 3. They are going to pay for it by cutting the building inspectors secretary from full time to part time. They are also forcing town judges to reduce their pay to keep the full time court clerk from going part time. And also forcing the Full time court clerk to give up her health insurance. This is Just plain Wrong, Shame on them. The Budget meeting is scheduled for Nov 7th at 7pm at the Alden Town Hall. All Alden residents are urged to attend.

How much are the town board members paid now? Do they health and other benefits?

It's one thing to make job cuts, benefit cuts and changing jobs from full time to part time to save taxpayers money. But to make these cuts to give themselves a raise is ludicrous.

So the Council members are getting a whopping $1,500 raise each...BIG WHOOP!. Along with the raise, they voted to stop the town provided health insurance for elected officials and, neither of them take NYS retirement. On top of all this, the budget still contains a tax decrease.

I invite all Alden residents to attend the public hearing on Nov.7th to hear about a budget that increases funding for the Ewell Free Library, funds improvements to the Alden Town Park including the Joe Panza nature trail and increases funding for disaster preparedness. It does all this while DECREASING the tax rate. Get all the budget information, not just the slanted view of 1 individual.

Welcome to speakup. I'm assuming now that the information about the job cuts etc to give the town board a raise that the original poster posted was incorrect.

YOu have a point though. How many hours does the position really need a week. I don't mean the stuff they volunteer with to gain votes... I mean actual work.

No it wasn't incorrect, Ron Smith are Super current bent is to now reduce the Part time court clerks pay by 3000 dollars. Funny thing is everybody else is getting raises, the board, town clerk etc. Plus the fact he is forcing the judges to take a pay cut to keep the full time court clerk from going part time and making her give up her health insurance.

And here is another bit of info check this link out. http://www.omig.ny.gov/data/images/s...10/06-7705.pdf

Not much, usually 4 meetings a month, rarely do you see them at the town hall other wise. Arlene Cook was the only one that was around regularly, and unfortunately she passed away some months back.

    So $11031.00 for 48 meetings? or $11031.00 / 48 = $229.81 a meeting?

How long on average are the meetings?
