    Main Street and Garrison

Lately I've noticed it looks like some kind of new construction is going to happen at Main Street and Garrison in Williamsville Village -- not just the gas station but the lot next store, which was/is (?) the Holiday Hotel. I think the same person owns both properties.

Anyone know what's going on there? I've heard talk a 6-floor building of some kind but last I heard no plans had been filed with the village.

What I think should happen is let's have some village residents form a group and fight any development of this site. There is already so much traffic and what good could come of any properly planned development of this site that would be consistent with the "style" of the village (instead of the run down hotel and gas station) and produce much needed tax revenue. Remember the Village Pointe subdivision was not good for the village, so why should this be any different?

According to the Buffalo News today they are demolishing what is there and the developer is unsure what they are going to build.

What I have heard is that it will be a commercial building of some sort - which I do not have an issue with at this time. I always laugh at some of the villagers in Williamsville who will oppose everything and anything (see above). It doesn't matter if it is 122 N Cayuga, or on the corner of Main/Garrison.

To the I-hate-any-type-of-development people in the village, my question is this - what would you want at the corner or main and garrison? It was an eye soar of a building the past three years. I hate to say it but buildings will go up in the Village of Williamsville and especially on Main Street. We can only dictate what will be there according to the Village Code. Anything else would stunt captialism.

That being said, traffic will be a consideration but it will always be a consideration with ANYTHING that will be built there. Something will go there, I trust that it will be something within the scope of the village community plan.

What do you want - the Village of Williamsville to buy that plot of land like they foolishly bought the Williamsville Water Mill in 2004 for $500,000 - of which the villagers have already paid $250,000!!! Talk about a good use of taxpayers money (thanks Mary Lowther).

I'd suggest all "villagers" should rest easy, given just about any of the past projects of this particular re-developer especially.
Best recent example here. The Bonds re-use right in the village is another.
