    Open Government in West Seneca

I would like to see the Town Board meetings videotaped like Amherst. This would enable more citizens to understand what is going on. I would like to set up a poll to get votes on this, but I can't figure out how to do that. If anyone can get a poll set up, please help.

You can not do a poll on a town subforum, only on the main forums at the top. Great idea though about the video taping.

I asked the moderator to create one in West Seneca instead of boring the rest of the forum with our issues.

Does anyone know if it is legal for a citizen to tape record or videotape the meetings?

    PH,
Are you looking for it to be broadcast or just videotaped?

I am not sure of the legality of video taping the meetings, but I do recall a similar case in Lancaster not long ago. Does anyone recall the outcome?

As for the viewing, if recorded. The Town could post the video on the Town's web site, in the same manner that the NFTA is supposed to air their meetings. Got to www.nfta.com, and you can see what I'm referring to.

So far the poll has not been figured out....

I was thinking about a podcast ability on the town's website. I will check out NFTA. I think that public broadcast of the meetings is a good way to keep everyone accountable. Even the citizens who attend and complain and put a spin on what happened. I have read the town board minutes and they are so sparse on details.

    Hey Larry!

    Long time no hear.

I have created the poll with regards to recording the meetings.
