Funniest night was also before the Taste of Buffalo because all the local theatre people were exhausted from having to set up for their day jobs!
This is a LONGGGG thread & I did not catch every post , but did anyone mention "Frank's Casa Nova" , "Flay's" , "New Colonie Lounge" , "Sveedees" , I mean all the men in here should remember these strip joints ? Oh & that place on the small hill at Tonawanda & Amherst St. , I forget the name , only "Sveedees" remains & of course is called "Club Chit Chat" , last of the strip bars within the city limits I believe , unless the "Colonie" still exists ?

riv , I remember going to "Frank's" as an 18 year old & watching a cute young pretty blond about my age . I felt that here was some guy's young daughter up there being ogled & degraded & have never liked going to these places..........But peer pressure when I was younger forced me to go a few times..............Originally Posted by Riven37
I'm not real big onj the strip bars either.
I did used to go to Colnie once in a while, since I lived right up the street, but that was more when the old man owned it.
Shame what happened to him.
Let me articulate this for you:
"I'm not locked in here with them. They're locked in here with me!!"

I was at one @Beaver Island State Park in 1971.
Wally Bobecks - burnt to the ground in the mid 90's - story goes he keep fighting to get inside while it was burning - cops had to haul him away - later it was said he had about five or six suit cases on the second floor filled with cash - when the fire was put out about the only thing standing was part of the actual bar.
What was "Good Bar" on Elmwood and forest called prior to Good Bar ?

After spot for Timon/Mount mercy dances. Seemed classy at the time, with red leather seats and padding all around, I think.
Drinking there at age 16, with some kind of very shaky proof. Probably drank Schmidts.
Also, not really a party bar, but the Lucky Strike lanes on Abbott was a great place to spend a Sat. Afternoon bowling and drinking pitchers of Genny - again, age 15 or 16.
My buddy, Jack, used to collect just enough on Saturdays on his paper route to have beer money.
At that time you could drink a lot on $3 or so.
I moved out of WNY 18 years ago and was wondering if Ginnys Place on East Ferry was still opened and what it is like today. Whenever I visit WNY, I always try to hit up the older establishments. Sometimes, it might not always be safe though. Sucks.
