Seneca Destroy The Buffalo Business District!

SENECA DESTROY THE BUFFALO BUSINESS DISTRICT!

LETS LOOK AT WHY THE SENECAS WANTED THE CONVENTION CENTER FOR THEIR CASINO.

BUFFALOS ENTIRE BUSINESS DISTRICT IS ADJACENT TO THE CONVENTION CENTER AND THE CASINO COMPACT ALLOWS THEN TO BUY LAND ADJACENT TO THE CASINO AND ADD IT TO THEIR RESERVATION.....IN EFFECT REMOVING THE ENTIRE TAX PAYING BUSINESS DISTRICT FROM THE TAX ROLES AND FROM LOCAL CONTROL.

SECONDLY, THEY WOULD HAVE OFFERED FREE PARKING, FREE BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND/OR DINNER TO ALL GAMBLERS CREATING LEACH UPON THE VIABILITY OF THE BUSINESS DISTRICT. WHAT EMPLOYER PRIVATE OR PUBLIC WANTS THEIR EMPLOYEES PERFORMANCE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE RACKED DISTRCTION, ABSENSE AND TARDINESS?

I'll take free parking, free breakfast, etc any day of the week. Don't displace your anger. If the state didn't have a monopoly on gambling we wouldn't be in this situation. In addition, if the state taxes weren't so high the senecas wouldn't have a business model.

    THEY WOULD HAVE OFFERED FREE...LUNCH...

2200 new jobs at Seneca Niagara
Let me articulate this for you:
"I'm not locked in here with them. They're locked in here with me!!"

Yeah, and how much did Niagara Falls have to fork over to have all those jobs? Oh, yeah, an aging white elephant government-owned convention center that probably cost the city more in maintenance than the revenue it brought in.

Well, Buffalo will do so-o-o-o much better with Bass Pro Shops! $66 million in state, county, and city aid to get 400 mostly part-time retail jobs. That seems a real bargain to me!

BTW, the "temporary" Seneca casino down in Salamanca has probably created more jobs in Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties in the last two years than the State of New York has created in the last quarter century -- and the Senecas are building their own casino/resort which will add hundreds more jobs in the Salamanca area.

    Salamanca

A friend of mine who works for Local 17 has been working down there, 6 days a week. He says the Indians are spending 185 million on the resort down there. That should be a nice place. I know some Housing Cops, soon to be unemployed are interviewing down there for Police jobs. Also, the State Police shifted both Troopers and BCI down there. I think you'll see the 219 expansion on a fast track if things go well down there. They'll lobby Washington for federal transportation dollars to finish it off. Good for me, I would be able to get to the hunting cabin in about 45 minutes (Ellicottville). I could commute throughout hunting season !!!

You're not going to find a lot of folks from the Southern Tier whining about the casino, given the number of jobs it's bringing in. I don't think Salamanca's seen a boom like this since back in the 1880s or 1890s! The casino jobs all pay decent money for this area (and include benefits), and some of the jobs pay really well -- and there certainly aren't enough Senecas to fill them. The Senecas are also paying Cattaraugus County for 6 1/2 additional deputy positions annually.

BTW, the casino/resort will probably do more for tourism in the Southern Tier than anything since the opening of Holiday Valley. Salamanca is only about 20 or 30 minutes from Ellicottville, and it's just down the mountain from Allegany State Park. Chautauqua Institute is about an hour west, Peak 'n Peak a bit further, and Erie, PA less than 2 hours.

If this is true then it is a bad deal for Buffalo. It makes no sense to loose that much real-estate. It put a sovereign nation in the heart of the city.Definitely not a good idea.

I support people who need jobs! BUT..

I support people who need jobs! BUT..

Its like getting raped and then getting handed a bandaid and a kiss afterward.

Here is the truth, I dont know how to say it any other way.
-The senecas are only sharing revenue on slot machines not on all forms of gambling and they can choose to continue gambling and eliminate the slot machines any time they want.
-The jobs that are being created are not subject to any fair labor laws. No union laws, no protection if they refuse to pay unemployment, no discrimination laws, nothing.
-Does the money they are paying compensate for all the land that they are removing from the tax roles by adding it to the reservation? Its all the non-indians whose tax rates are going up for all that land that isnt being taxed anymore.
-YOUR CREATING TWO CLASSES OF CITIZENS. ONE THAT OBEYS FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY AND LOCAL LAWS....VERSUS...ANOTHER CLASS THAT IS EXEMPT.
-As I said before, even the revenues from the casinos are not being shared with all the indians....its not like every indian receives a dividend.

ATLEAST THE SALAMANCA CASINO IS ALREADY ON RESERVATION LAND SO ITS NOT REMOVING TAXABLE PROPERTY FROM THE RESERVATION.

I SUPPORT THE JOBS BUT WHEN AN INJUSTICE CROSSES YOUR PATH....AND YOU FIND OUT HOW POWERLESS YOU ARE BECAUSE YOUR ON AN INDIAN RESERVATION....YOUR GOING TO REALLIZE THAT YOU SOLD YOUR SOUL, THE SOUL OF YOUR COMMUNITY AND THE SOUL OF FUTURE GENERATIONS FOR A JOB WHERE YOU WILL BE PERMANENTLY DESCRIMINATED AGAINST.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE FUTURE. LOOK AT CALIFORNIA AND THEIR BUDGET CRISIS. DID YOU KNOW THAT ALL THE INDIAN CASINOS IN CALIFORNIA PRODUCE MORE REVENUE THAN ALL OF LAS VEGAS....AND IF THOSE CASINOS WERE TAXED FAIRLY, THERE WOULD BE NO BUDGET CRISIS IN CALIFORNIA. THE SAME THING IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN NY.

I MORALLY OBJECT TO GAMBLING AND THE EVILS THAT COME WITH COME WITH IT BUT I FUNDAMENTALLY OPPOSE THE PERPETUAL INJUSTICE AND EXEMPTION FROM EQUAL RIGHTS AND EQUAL REPRESENTATION. I OPPOSE ANYONE WHO CLAIMS TO BE ABOVE OR EXEMPT FROM THE LAW.

How come on the casino commercials, they show all these beautiful women, but when you actually go there, it's the same crowd from monster truck rallys, WWF, and bingo? I know the answer-marketing-no responses here, just hypothetical.

All casino's are lame, it's funny how so many people who frequent these places claim to be ahead of the game. Yeah right, that's how they stay open, by giving out more money than they take in.
Most of Ya'all are in denial who go there. And denial is not a river in Egypt. You tally your winnings and fail to report your losses even to yourself, so listen up casino goer. Spend your time and money somewhere else where you get some value for your money. If you have one of those cards they issue, they track you and let you win just enough to keep you coming back. You need to know that you are supporting organized crime with every coin.

Thanks for telling me how to spend my money. Are you sure you aren't a member of the Erie County Legislature?

My pleasure. I am only looking out for your best interests and my motivation is sincere. I can't think of a stupider waste of money than going to a casino. You're better off buying pot, sitting home and watching TVLand
No, I am pretty sure that I am not a member of the ECL.

Do you think they would have an opening for me?

    HAHA!

Your matter-of-fact response in defense of your elitist attitude caught me off guard and made me chuckle! Thanks for the laugh. Keep up the bible banging.

I go to the casinos once in a while to see if I can get lucky, but I kinda have to agree with stevenco. If you go to the casino, you'd better have some friends with you, because casinos aren't a source of income (not for the gambler, anyway). Casinos take in truckloads more money than they give out, but I don't know if I believe in the card conspiracy theory just yet.
Remain calm!! But run for your lives if necessary!
