Man accused of stealing 400k from church

The former business manager of a Cheektowaga church is charged with second-degree
grand larceny for allegedly stealing more than $400,000 dollars to pay off gambling debts.

Randall Kozlowski of Buffalo confessed to stealing the money over a period of several years from Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Cheektowaga, where
    he worked.

Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark says Kozlowski was writing checks to himself, and the alleged thefts went undetected for so long because Kozlowski was in charge of all the church's financial affairs.

Kozlowski was jailed in lieu of $500,000 dollars bail and could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

The District Attorney says this case is just the latest in a series of church embezzlements. In the last five years, more than $1,000,000 has been embezzeled from local Catholic Churches. "There has to be a change in the way they do business. They just can't keep doing business the same way and expect this not to keep happening," said Clark.

Kozlowski - sounds like a white guy. He'll get a slap on the wrist.

Maybe have to pay back $100k, and serve 6 months.

We the public can go over the government books just as well as they can go over ours.

Darren M. Strickland was admired for his community involvement and the support he gave to those living on the margins.

That's why people who know him have found it difficult to reconcile the Darren they knew -- the man who spent 10 years as executive director of Friends of Night People -- with the man sentenced Tuesday to six months in jail. He also was ordered to pay full restitution of the $44,244.03 he admitted stealing from the Allentown soup kitchen.

(biting my tongue for, possibly, turning this into another racial thread, but) She was white, he was black.
Let's just all be honest with each other, and admit that the justice system doesn't operate the same for everyone.
