Individuals and families earning less than $40,000 a year will be eligible for free tax preparation and electronic filing services from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
The program, which is being offered for the second straight year, is being sponsored by Creating Assets, Savings and Hope (CASH), the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County and the office of Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown.
Representatives from several local agencies will be available to provide information on services at the event, called CASH In. It will include information on how to apply for Home Energy Assistance Program benefits and how to access services offered by the Women Infants Children, or WIC, program. In addition, there will be information on employment and training for the unemployed and underemployed.
