An Independent is a Democrat and so are the Conservative and Working Families Party in Lackawanna. They are run by the democrats just look at who they endorsed 99.9% of the time. When was the last time you saw them endorse some one other than the endorsed democratic candidate? John is a former democratic chairman, so is Tony Mingarelli, Bill Delmont was previously a chairman of several different parties. Truth is they left and switched so they could get POWER someplace else.

TONY MINGARELLI APPLAUDS
DEMOCRATIC ADMINISTRATION
At the annual Democratic
Dinner Dance, Chairman
Tony Mingarelli" praised the
present Democratic Administration
for "starting to lift
our city's image up to where
it should b e"
In his address, Mingarelli
stated that Mayor Kuwik and
the Democratic Council were
'greeted with many complex
and unusual problems such
as the severe ice storm of last
winter and now one of the
worst winter on record.*' The
Democratic team handled it
very, very well," he stated.
He also praised the Democratic
Council for changing
their job from a part-time one
to a full-time one;
Mingarelli ended by saying
it was his duty and that of
the Committee to continue
"to lift our city's image by
TONY MINGARELLI
Democratic Chairman
giving you dedicated people
like Mayor Kuwik and Council
men Bob Surdyke, Tom
Radich, and Adolph Overton."
BTW Bob Surdyke is backing Geoff Szymanski. Is that really CHANGE for Lackawanna. More like 34 years of the same BS.
CHAIRMEN OF PARTY NOW HEAD BOARD

The two men who head the Lackawanna Democratic Party now also head the Lackawanna School Board, with its almost $27 million budget and more than 200 faculty jobs.
In the annual reorganization meeting Monday, the board named John Makeyenko president and Skay Abdallah vice president. They are chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of the city Democratic Party." Makeyenko was board vice president last year. The board also increased its legal contingent from five lawyers to six lawyers and a law firm. It raised the salary of staff attorney Carl Morgan, who earned $53,000 annually a year ago, to $61,000.
Richard S. Juda was reappointed attorney for special education, at a salary of $31,500, plus benefits. He is the only lawyer to receive benefits. Arc J. Petricca was renamed sexual harassment officer at $5,000.
Attorney Charles Myzel, board negotiator at $15,000 for the past school year, was replaced by two lawyers and a law firm.
"There are five contracts (expired) right now," said Makeyenko.
Negotiations with unions will be divided among Antonio Savaglio, clerks and nonprofessionals, $16,500; Santo Campanella, nurses and administrators, $16,500; and Damon & Morey, teachers, $20,000.
"Last year, I was asked to negotiate for all five (contracts)," Myzel said.
The appointments of the lawyers drew comment after the meeting from citizens not allowed to speak during the session.
Former board member Diane Kozak said the board is now headed by the city's Democratic chairman and vice chairman and has tapped a law firm, Damon & Morey, that includes county Democratic Chairman G. Steven Pigeon.
Joseph DiCenzo, a citizen who studies public budgets, noted the $150,500 the board voted in salaries for lawyers is $5,000 more than in the recently passed budget for that purpose.
"When the board encourages voters to pass a budget, they always say, 'Do it for the kids,' " DiCenzo said.
The board also:
Rescheduled its meeting times for board and work sessions, from the second Monday and second Wednesday of the month, respectively, to the third Monday and third Wednesday. The new meeting days begin in August.
Mohamed Albanna, pointing out that the third Monday is also the meeting date for City Council, urged the School Board to avoid a conflict.
Makeyenko said the board's meeting dates were changed to give Superintendent Paul Hashem more time to prepare. He did not rule out further changes in the meeting schedule.
OK'd a travel policy, despite the protests of new board member Robert Lohr, who objected to the board's allowing members to travel to conferences across the country without any requirement to report back in open session on expenditures or what they did.
He said the practice appears to conflict with the board travel policy approved in 1996.
Makeyenko urged that the board first approve the policy, then determine if it conflicts with the 1996 policy.
"We can act on this and have Mr. Morgan check the policies," he said.
Revised the rules for public comment at regular meetings, allowing five speakers to comment at the start of the meeting and five speakers at the close. Each speaker would be allotted three minutes.
To speak, residents have to sign up before the opening of a regular meeting. Public comment is not allowed at other meetings.
Why else would some chairman switch parties unless they thought they could get power elsewhere? This has been an ongoing thing in Lackawanna for years.
Bill Delmont is a little harder to get info for but he was a 3rd Ward Councilman in 1956 and was elected under the Democratic line. He then switched parties several times. He was a long time Conservative Party Chairman and still influences the party in Lackawanna.
Ask yourself this question: Why do all these former democrats still try to influence Lackawanna politics?
Answer: POWER and MONEY if it wasn't they would have been gone a long time ago.
Delmont was a Democrat then wanted to be Republican Chair. But the Republicans wouldn't make him chair then he switched to Liberal Party became chairman then switched to Conservative then became chairman there. Most of this all happened in the 50's. Get all that? So Liberal VS Conservative: Now that's the far end of the spectrum there. Why would you flip flop that drastically? Money and Power? You decide. Now you know why Lackawanna is so screwed. Same people, same names, different places.
Its been a long time so I could be wrong about him being elected as a democrat. He probably was elected as a liberal.
This isn't an attack on anyone just putting the facts out there.

Makeyenko, Mingarelli and Koziol were fighting over the IP party for years. Once again Same Faces Different Places.
Isn't the silence golden? Loss of words John and Dave?
You obviously do not understand how the League of Women work their debates. Remove them from their element- stick them in a room full of people and you can hear all their answers as to the questions the citizens prepare - not a given "their" candidate will be the first to answer their "prepared" questions.
Problem Lackawanna1's candidates are Jaworski,SBS and Chudzik.
Jaworski would come unhinged at the first negative barb thrown his way therefore killing any chance of him ever becoming mayor.
SBS couldn't possibly be prepared to debate anybody especially if/when her buddy Makeyenko's influence on her is exposed.
Chudzik well....is Chudzik.
To be fair I couldn't see Pirowski or Szymanski fairing any better. But I will say this, the League of Women Voters does do an excellent job of being unbiased and fair at the debates they run. I have been to several from council ones to senate ones never saw any issues with their format except on this blog of course.
