Name calling is for kids. Not for adults.

    Any adults here?
Sheesh yourself. To bitch on an internet blog saying no one will listen is one thing, but to make effort that you are heard is another. To continue to complain, and continue to make no effort, or change one's approach, is not purposeful debate, it is cowardice. These fellows have made an internet career not following through. Notice how there was no interest in enlisting Mr. Warren, the closest thing to an activist lawyer, in helping out by either Jokster or Wantabe. That is because they are in a comfort zone of internet tough talk.

    Like I said.................

    Another good thread, gone.

I'm sad, because I'd still like to know how a town board can hold a work session in a private work space. I've been to loads of work sessions, and they are always held in town/city/village halls right before the regular meeting at town/city/village hall. Those work sessions are usualy about updating council persons on business and figuring out who will provide a motion and a second. Mostly routine stuff.

Sometimes, more important things are discussed. But the issue at work sessions is NEVER lobbying a member to vote a certain a way. Even local government board members aren't that dumb. Umm.. usually. I'm sure there are exceptions.

The truth is that if you want to know what influences a town board member on a particular issue, you'll need to dig deeper than that. You need to organize and lobby and show you represent the majority of your community.

The other complaints about when you are or are not allowed to speak at public meetings and work sessions are too little too late.

Board votes are the final act. If you want to help write the script, you need to start way sooner.

Thank you for seeing the light at the end of Niagara's tunnel. This is the crux of the issue. As Niagara has been total countless times, there have been FOILs, meetings, questions, and now investigations. This forum was to discuss the rights of individuals and taxpayers in regards to our rights to petition government for accountability.

You are sad because the WS Town Board has held a work session in some private workspace.
Don't be sad, get mad. Do something about it. Get active.

    "paranoia runs deep, into..."

Niagara that is from a crosby, stills and nash song. Perhaps the Jokester just likes the phrase. Or perhaps he relates to it maybe from the era from which it comes. I could go on and speculate on why he/she uses it but I will never know until they tell me.

Please do me a favor and drop the analyzation. I am sick of it. We are entitled (yes, even you) to remain anonymous here. And yes we can surmise who might be at the other end by what they say. But there is no one else here except for you who is on a witch hunt and I can personally tell you I am not going to sit in your dunking bucket. i am not attacking here, just stating fact.

Every time we try to have a conversation you butt in with some irrational finger pointing yap. Yes you are free like everyone else is to say what you want but nowhere here have I seen anyone go after anyone else personally and you said that that was your cause in the other forum so please stop already. Le us just carry on with our blabber whether fact or fiction. If you don't care about what we say then stop reading.

Sometimes bouncing our thoughts off of others helps us to think clearer and I believe that is what we are doing here.

Ok Niagara, now I am totally perplexed on where you stand. You want us to get active, yet when we try to band together here it seems like you try to rip us apart. This is a good place o start and try to see if others feel the same as we do. Sure I could go out in my community and I could talk to everyone, start a crusade of sorts, but there aren't many people who will walk out their doors and follow. This is a touch-point, we can gather ideas talk about our issues and then band together with each of small groups in rder to make one large one. Many of us here probably have a few others who are not good with words who are beside us just waiting for the time to come. Some of us may be solo. Either way please try not to be defeatist and criticize our thoughts and we will try to do the same for you!!

    Thanks...

    Hi Mona,
I joined this forum about three years ago. I really was not active here, and initially posted a little about the indian casino issue awhile back. I remember Mr. Warren from that time, and now I see he is a moderator, and the Canisus Clinton Street issue. I got an email from the "editor@speakupwny.com"
    who gave link
    http://www.speakupwny.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16647
asking what I thought. After posting I saw some threads about Americorp. As I said before, my wife was involved with the Burchfield Park, and through her and in another way I know ML. I feel you fellows were grossly unfair to him, and even though it was not me, I am still pissed about it. As far as you fellows being involved in the town meetings, I am all for it, but because of what I saw before and (no) reaction to valid suggestions I made, I get the impression you fellows are just a bunch of goofs, probably retirees who have nothing else to do but to test your management skills, and surprised no one is listening.

Thanks, the avatar goes with the user name.
I'll let you choose the name you wish to call me.
My point concerning citizens rights was... name calling isnt necessarily childish if you use the right words. The right words can get attention. For example, if someone got into power because their education in ass kissing makes them think they are intellectual, but they are really a moron...a citizen should have the right to point that out to the public.

    Hi Niagara

That was a nice curveball you threw about Burchfield Park and your wife. When did you get married, last night? Well, then I suppose congrats are in order.

Okay, back to business. There are some essential facts that we need to realize.

    1. The Public Authorities Accountability Act
    http://www.abo.state.ny.us/abo/about...rovisions.html

    2. The rights of citizens to petition government

    3. The right to file an Article 78 if government does not act in the best interest of the citizen or other entity

    4. The right to request information via the Freedom of Information Act

I believe we have a lot of good info here. FOIL works but not that well. The town will drag their feet and when they do give you something, its as little info as possible. I'm really interested in ARticle 78. Do you have more information on it?
