What is West Seneca AmeriCorps doing in Niagara Falls?

Mr. Lazzara has taken the WS AmeriCorps staff out of WS to Niagara Falls for a retreat. What's that all about? For what reason, who's paying for it, how will the auditors feel about this expense? If anyone can enlighten us on the aforementioned questions, I would like to know how my tax dollars are being spent. It is apparently a two day retreat-to the casino?!!!!

If you guys haven't already e-mailed Channel 2's You Paid For It- maybe if enough of us do, they'll have to do something. That's what they claim the segment is there for; to find out if there is misuse or not.

Who the hell approved this trip? Did they take a Town vehicle?

Looked this up on the web, and discovered it is a religious center run by the Carmelite Fathers, part of the Catholic Church. (I will refrain from the obvious comments at this time ) Their site refers to meditation and prayer as part of the services they offer. I don't know if that is included in the "team building" part of Mark's retreat. Is he trying to convert these people to his beliefs?
The web site does say it is within walking distance to the Falls.

Here are some serious questions.

Regarding workplaces and programs - where is the separation of church and state?

What if there are AmeriCorps workers who are Muslim, Jew, or of other faiths?

If a governmental agency such as a Town cannot have a Nativity scene up during the holidays, how can Mr. Lazzara bring these workers to a Catholic retreat?

Reminds me of a woman I know who cannot attend certain meetings since they start with prayer eventhough they are headed by a local government.

Amen. The first time I met Mark Lazzara, he was literally running around with his hands in the air screaming about something. Which, there's nothing wrong with that, but that personality trait made me confuse him with another (openly gay) man I once met, and I maintained the idea that these two men were the same for several months. Until I was told the two men were not the same. Though even Helen Keller before she learned 'water' could tell the two guys' sexualities were the same.

Anyway. Really, Channel 2 is just looking for stories like this, right? It has Paul Clark, separation of church and state, the misuse of federal/tax dollars... shouldn't they be jumping at this? Anyone else emailed them?

I went on Channel 2's web site and asked some very crucial questions regarding the legality of this retreat. The Town doesn't want to touch Lazzara but someone has to put a stop to all his travels. I really don't think the auditors would like the expenses involved in this trip. But if his ccreative team knows how to hide them and the auditors may never know what's going on.
