Stuff you can find in your yard...Cool Skull

For about 10 second I thought... what a cool skull what on earth was it..






But then I found the rest of it...

I have extra bones if someone wants them for show and tell in school.

During the spring when we go looking for antler sheds, we found a whole bunch of skulls. Identifying them is the hard part.

So far, we know that we have a deer skull, a fox skull and a heron skull (that was a tough one to figure out).

It's amazing to me that these skulls make it through the winter and get stripped down like that without being damaged.

I think I'm gonna go back and get that one bone and bleach it out.

I love doing that stuff. It's neat to see the different features on the skull once it has been bleached up. I use Hydrogen Peroxide instead of bleach though - it's gentler on the bone.

I dried a whole deer out for the spine. Gets really gooey for a while...
