    Ice Rink

    lucky larry
    Sheila Meegan

When was the last time a non supporter of Paul Clark, got an endorsement
of the West Seneca Democratic Party. Let me answer that Question.
    NEVER
The Democratic Chairman is (Surprise) TIM CLARK.

Sheila Meegan cut a deal with Wally to get the endorsement and will be alligned with him. That is why it is imparative that voters back DALE CLARKE and FRANK RUSSO. They will be the voice of the people and will not allow GREENAN, LORRIGO, CLARK, OSMANSKI to be the manipulators in West Seneca any longer.

For those who are interested,Sheila's husband , Mike ,sits at the town rink and feeds off the taxpayer. It's bad enough that he does nothing for the salary, he also clocked in $12,000 in overtime in '06. It must be nice to sit at the ice rink all day, read the paper, drink coffee with 2 other town employees and watch the ice stay cold.
For those residents that don't know about the ice rink, nothing goes on during the day except for wednesday with open skate for adults for a couple of hours. Talk about waste in government, look at the ice rink and you find $100,000+ in salarydoing NOTHING . Don't wonder why taxes are so high. Cut the fat.

Sheila for the people- WHAT A JOKE- When the circus leaves West Seneca
I hope that she will be with the rest of the clowns leaving WS.

So they have employees there even if no one is skating?

    Here is what I know

Call the Ice Rink during the day - (716) 675-1836 someone will answer

West Seneca Ice Rink has this schedule. One of the high school teams (not sure which one) practices Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 2:30pm.

    Tuesday Adult Skate
    (18 & Over) 9:20 AM - 11:20 AM
    Wednesday Adult Skate
    (18 & Over) 9:20 AM - 11:20 AM
    Thursday Adult Skate
    (18 & Over) 9:20 AM - 11:20 AM

To answer you question, no one is skating and they have two employees working the desk but there is work to be done ie sweep, paint, and answer calls

That doesn't justify either one of them

The rink shouldn't be opened till a organization is using the ice. What a waste of money. I called Depew and Hamburg and they both said that their afternoon skates have less than ten skaters. West Seneca probably has a similar number. I was just told that the high school's use the rink for gym class during the day for one hour (maybe four or five times a year) and that rink is opened for the high school team to use the ice prior to the time they have purchased at 2:30pm for those students with a early dismissal. Why are they not being charged for use of the ice?

It is my understanding that West Seneca Youth Hockey Association does not have residency requirement that Amherst, Hamburg, and Cheektowaga all have. Why? Our taxes are being used to fund the rink. Why shouldn't most of the teams be filled with West Seneca residents.

Do the Niagara Scenics still use the ice? They must take up a good portion of ice time.

Does the school district allow their high school team to use the ice without a coach? Usually the coach is a teacher from the school. Are they being billed the extra cost for using the ice prior to hitting the ice?

    sorry, my error.............

It been a while since I've been involved with a team at the ice rink.
Let's see 6 hours a week for open skate for adults.
1.5 hours twice a week for West Seneca West Hockey=3 hours
If my math is correct that is 9 hours during the week.
But we are paying two town employees 40 hours each.
    TAX MONEY WELL SPENT.

Tuesday can't come fast enough for the Clowns in West Seneca.

    PS I'm not Rudy, sorry

So there are no other leagues that play at the rink?
One beautiful thing about having a government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations is that every disaster is measured in terms of economic loss. It's sort of like getting your arm sheared off in a car accident and thinking, "Damn, now it'll take longer to fold the laundry" as blood spurts from your arteries. - The Rude Pundit

This is just one more example for a total reorganization of the town's structure

What about all of the Town teams that practice there? Don't they have a full schedule in the evenings? Also, don't they pay the Town for renting ice time? In my opinion, the biggest crime is the excessive number of rink guards that don't guard the rink - it is some sort of teenage social club.

    rink guards............

are not the major problem. Who really cares whether it is a social club or not.
$5.75 an hour vs. a Town employee with $12,000 in overtime is a crime.
These are kids making a few dollars and not hanging out on street corners.

Yes, other teams practice in the evening, but the employees that I am referring to
work from 7am -330pm and if they stay it goes into overtime. That is when the part-timers
    don't show for work.

Also, is there a budget for the rink that shows costs of operations and revenue? I heard that the concession stand pays for a lot of the operations.
