At SUNY Buffalo, they held a Holiday Carnival, which included "a Hanukkah table, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day [this is a Canadian holiday], St. Nick's Day and Kings Day." There were also red and green cookies for the nostalgic, and chicken was served at the Kwanzaa table.

but nowhere at UB was the mention of christmas or a manger...reports on campus during last year said that there were plenty of jewish menorrahs and of course hanukkah celebrations

Honestly, I went to UB and never for a minute felt they didn't embrace Christ.

UB school calendar grants days off for only two named religious holidays, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Not for nothing, but can you imagine what would happen if say, Good Friday or Christmas were specified days off? I think we'd see a separation of church and state lawsuit.

I'm a big fan of separation of church and state and don't think ANY religious holidays should be observed on a public school calendar.

Hey Timmy! Here's a shocker for ya .....

Two years ago my daughter's public school presented their Annual Holiday Chorus. And wouldn't ya know it, I do believe I heard a couple traditional "Christmas" songs. And I'm not talking Santa and his reindeer, either.

Also, I've yet to come across anyone who was pissed off because I said "Merry Christmas". Neither here nor downstate.
