Everyone has a right to his or her opinion. Anyone voting for Mr. Szymanski already know what type of councilman he has been for the past SIX YEARS...invisible. From reading all the council meeting minutes, it looks like his focus is on BIGGER and HIGHER goals (Assembly?) and that Lackawanna is just but a stepping stone...and the title "Mayor" will look good on his resume. Obviously Mr. Szymanski has supporters, otherwise he wouldn't have gotten two terms out of his council position. Obviously, his supporters don't really care about the condition of the 2nd Ward...they must live on the streets that don't face the boarded up buildings, or they choose to take a different route to and from work to avoid the blight. From what I'm reading, Mr. Szymanski's supporters have an excuse for the condition of his ward...IT'S NOT HIS FAULT. But, let's vote him into the Mayor's seat and give him control over the entire city, o.k.? Once he's finished with Lackawanna, he's on his way onto the Legislature!!! Wanna bet?

You are absolutely right! This is the lame ass excuse we hear all the time. I've been told he has had to play the game, and once he gets in and becomes King he'll be able to do things his way. For the last 6 years why didn't he show some integrity and stand up to the do nothings... no he became one of them too! Sorry, he sure as hell is not getting my vote.
People are afraid to get involved----or they just don't care because.......!

I believe he walked back into office without anyone saying a word.
