Why is CNN obsessed with race?

I'm sure you've all seen the war room photo with Obama and his staff by now. Of course, I check out CNN.com a few moments ago thinking, "hmm... I wonder how they can make this about race"? I mean it's a great moment for all Americans, and I give Obama tons of credit for doing this act.

But why is it that CNN and others (mainly liberals in general) are obsessed with this man's race? Why can't a good act be judged on merits and not have us reminded CONSTANTLY that everything that happens in America has to do with race? Hint: it doesn't, but most liberal news networks are infatuated with it.

We have elected a biracial President with the support of mostly white people. We're past that, time to move on and stop obsessing about race.

Seriously, watch their homepage over the course of a month and see how many articles mention race. They even have a "race" section, believe it or not. Get over it already.

The interesting thing about that picture -- if someone showed it to you, say 10-15 years ago, and asked you to pick out the President in the picture... - or, for that matter, the Secretary of State, no one would ever guess right.

It's good to see that Biden managed to stay awake.

TR... would you have picked Condi Rice out?

"Obama's body language shows new definition of presidential swagger, author says".

Sorry but he looks like eveyone else... paying attention (except Bidden who can now sleep with his eyes open).

Besides Obama, Clinton and that aid... it's still all white men, how did it change?

Come on, dude. You're so obsessed with letting everyone know that race doesn't matter, that you have to pretend he looks like everyone else in the room.

And the still couldn't place Pakistan on a map of the world.
The same could be said today. If you don't know who is who, how would you pick them out in a picture? 15 years ago, or today, makes no difference. Uneducated is uneducated.

Seriously, they all look they are paying 100% attention, Yes Obama may look a little more into it since he's leaning forward, but it's not like any of them are reading an e-mail or on the phone, except the one dude to O's left.

age is the difference I see

all the rest look more experienced .. look at the age maps on their faces. Obama is different because he is so much younger. My question is why didn't someone give up their good chair so the commander and chief could get the respect he deserves
Oh and when did it become protector instead of commander and chief

This photo really should be one of those "create your own caption" games...

By the looks on their faces Obama was just told a creepy guy had kissed his young daughter. And by the look on Hillary's face - she just realized the guy was Bill.

The picture from the other side of the room was better. It showed the art that's hanging on the wall.

That was Dubya's. He brought from home, so he took it.
