People moved to the burbs for a number of reasons, but greenspace has to be amongst the most important (outside of schools and crime).
Is there going to be any left in West Seneca or Orchard Park?

It's amazing that with declining populations that we need so many new developments and retail centers.
It's not as if there aren't enough vacant strip malls or plaza's already dotting our suburban landscapes that we'd need to clear trees for new ones.

    Enough is enough.

Hopefully they can find a way to put a Wal-Mart every 3 miles because driving 4 miles and 7 miles is just way to far.

Benderson's Unscheduled Presentation to the OP Town Board...

As presented by numerous reps from Benderson and Bergmann at the OP Town Board meeting of 3/7/07 (including Gerald Buchheit, who spoke first), this proposed project will replace the current Wal-mart store at the 7 corners in Hamburg.

They were not on the Board meeting agenda, but spoke for about 20 minutes after being introduced by Councilwoman Nan Ackerman to address the Board in the form of an "introductory presentation". It appears that the Supervisor was unaware that the presentation was to take place. There was no opportunity for questions from the public in attendance during or after the presentation.

A Channel 2 news camera was there (already set up before the meeting began) for this "unscheduled" presentation.

A larger Sam's Club development was already approved last year for this site - the Wal-mart will now be built instead. There was a negative SEQR declaration issued by the Town Board for the Sam's Club project.

The Bergmann rep explained that this was a corporate Wal-mart decision to slow down the buillding and development of Sam's Clubs in our region, and was not the result of opposition to other Wal-mart projects in neighboring towns.

In my opinion, the project is already a "done deal", despite pending review by the Conservation and Planning Boards. Another negative SEQR declaration will surely be issued, and will rely heavily on SEQR documentation submitted last year for the Sam's Club project.

    FYI
