Buffalo, NY (WBEN)-The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a winter storm watch in effect from Tuesday afternoon through late Wednesday night for Chautauqua Cattaraugus, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties.
A winter storm watch means that heavy snow is possible.
A developing winter storm will spread snow into the region Tuesday afternoon and become heavy at times Tuesday night. The snow will continue through the day on Wednesday before tapering off to snow showers during the evening.
By the time the snow tapers off Wednesday night, snowfall totals are forecast to be in excess of 6 inches, with a foot or more possible in some areas.
The weather service says much uncertainty remains regarding the path and timing of the storm, and they expect to change their advisories later Monday to reflect the exact timing and projected snowfall amounts with this storm.

People who wonder if the glass is half empty or full miss the point. The glass is refillable.
Great, now we'll be bomarded with endless "crawls" on our television screens touting the upcoming storm and asking us to tune in to Channel "x" for detailed coverage. I'm sure sweeps has nothing to do with the TV stations fear mongering (yes, I am aware WBEN is a radio station, but I am commenting on the TV stations).
Much ado about nothing is my guess. 6"? Up to 12"? Big deal, it's Buffalo.
