    Cheektowaga Supervisor

The Cheektowaga Democratic Committee met this evening to nominate and recomend to the Town Board a Supervisor and Councilman.

Tom Johnson and Jim Jankowiak had expressed interest in the position of Supervisor. Before the nominations began, Tom Johnson respectfuly withdrew his name at this time because of family reasons. Jim Jankowiak was nominated by the committee and upon the board's approval, will finish Dennis Gabryszak's term.

There were three names for consideration for the council seat to be vacated by Jim Jankowiak. Two of the contenders withdrew their names leaving the nomination to Rick Zydel.

I expect that the town board will appoint both of these fine gentlemen to these positions.

Jim and Rick should both do a good job. Tom Johnson is a career politician, who will say and do whatever he needs to be reelected. Thankfully, he bowed out.

Didn't Tom Johnson work at Dunlop for most of his life?
I'd hardly call that a "career politician."

Tom is retired from Dunlop. He has been a councilman for over 30 years, both as a Republican & Democrat.

Some might not call him a "Career Politician" but 30 years is a long time . If he retired from the auto industry - i guess that was a "Career"- and i believe you need about 30 years work time to retire from there!

I guess all the time he sat on these "Elected Positions" he turned down the tax payer funded : Health care - New York State Tax Payer Funded Retirement Benefits - Eye Care - Dental Care - Life Insurance - and all the other Tax Payer Funded Perks for Being a " Public Servant!"

Did i forget to mention he collected the same Type Benefits from the Auto Industry ? Did i forget to mention if he wanted to he could elect to take cash instead from either the Auto Industry or the Town for these Taxpayer Funded Benefits (TAX DOLLARS) . Also if his wife has a good job - that has benefits - she too is eligible for the same cash pay out from her job .

Lastly - Each and every one of your elected or appointed "Public Servant's" receive the same TAX PAYER FUNDED BENEFITS .

I still say he's a Career Politician. It's time for some NEW blood in Cheektowaga. You ever notice he's never seen a camera he didn't like.

He is, indeed, a career politician. I don't know that I'll live long enough to see the residents of this town demand some real change and then follow through at the polling place.
