Must be a raceway thing going on .. Fort Erie Race Track has a really good fish fry too. (ok .. so it's not in buffalo ) but it's still really good.

I too picked a winning horse that Friday night. Maybe we're on to something here

    OK--here is a thought for a poll:

Fishfry---do you prefer beer battered or breaded?

    GREAT POLL!

Beer battered, personally. There's also the lime-fried stuff. I'm not a big fan of it, but it's available.

    Thumbs up battered or breaded

How about broiled. A good broiled fisherman's platter at Pine Lounge in Cowlesville is just the thing for those of us that want to be (health conscience).
So my vote goes to BROILED.

Yes! I forgot broiled as an option. So, the new poll will be:

Fishfry: Battered, breaded or broiled? (Cripes, I sound like a waitress....)

As odd as it might seem, Billy Ogden's has a reasonably priced fish fry too. Quite good.

I've never had a decent steak there, but the other stuff is good to excellent.

Well, I know I've said this already, but you've gotta try the Fish Fry at the Marilla Grill (Bullis Rd in Marilla). Went there last week, and could hardly stand up afterwards!! (Beer Battered for me, since I get them so infrequently).
In addition to the fish itself, you get french fries, cole slaw, macaroni salad, AND potato salad - and they're all really good.
Oh yeah, all that PLUS they offer Yuengling on tap -

And when you're done eating, be sure to wander over to the Marilla Country Store directly across the street - awesome place, with much, much more inside than you would ever imagine!!

CPO Club, foot of Porter Avenue. They also have half platters for thise with smaller appetites. That's a big draw for my wife. And, you don't have to be former Navy anymore.

Just an FYI there is this same thread under the Food heading.

Anyways St James United church on Union St in Hamburg has a great fish fry.The Windom church on Abbott Rd in Orchard park also.
They both also have homemade salads and desserts.

I like them either way, broiled is best for you but battered is so yummy also.
