I heard a while back that it was going to be a Marrano development - Princeton something or the other was the name of it.
Don't know what's happening with it now though.
Does anyone have any information regarding the proposed development off of Fisher Rd?
It will be located between Langner and Orchard Park Rd.
They have already begun clearing it yet according to the Town there wasn't a completed Environmental Impact Study.
I live on Fisher and beyond the displaced wildlife and already busy street (it's like the Indy 500 for crying out loud), I am majorly concerned with the flooding. We already have flooding problems that many lifelong Fisher Rd residents blame on the newer development on Orchard Park Rd near Allendale (it always flooded on Fisher Rd, but our neighbors say that it has gotten much much worse since the 150 or so homes were built).
How many more new developments does West Seneca need anyway? They can't give the houses away down the road at "Fisher Estates"! I don't want nor need a new development and the speeders and loud car stereo's that come with it.

Do you have an address you are refering to?
You can grab a google earth map or microsoft live map and show a overhead. Makes it way easy seeing who is around the parcel they are refering to.

To FisherRd -
FYI - I've sent you a private message with regard to this project, describing info that I've obtained from West Seneca Planning Board and Town Board meeting minutes that should be helpful to you.
Why not just post it here?
Yeah, it's not like we all can't go to the West Seneca Planning Board minutes online and look for ourselves - this is public information, secrecy isn't really necessary.Originally Posted by yaksplat

To save you some time searching, the WS Planning Board minutes of 12-21-05 and 8-16-06 are of particular interest.
From what I've read, the project is a large Marrano development to be called "Princeton Estates" (154 lots), and to-date has been given only "preliminary approval" by the Planning Board.
As depicted in the minutes, they have probably already begun clearing/cutting down trees in preparation.
The minutes do not appear to identify who the SEQR Lead Agency is, and it appears that a SEQR declaration has yet to be made.
I could find no further mention of the project (from published Planning or Town Board minutes) after 8-16-06.
In a related issue, the newly approved West Seneca Comprehensive Plan (approved 11-6-06) has specific reference to protection and preservation of the Smokes Creek watershed and corridor (on which this development is being built).
The new Comprehensive Plan was specifically amended when approved by "striking any general and specific referrals to Smokes Creek and the Smokes Creek corridor being an area for a pathway."
The amendment resolution goes on say that "the Town Board had discussed Smokes Creek as a critical flood plain area and the Comprehensive Plan identified it as a critical environmental area. One of the revisions talked about was possibly extending some pathways along creek corridors through that area, but after further consideration the Town Board thought that the critical environmental asset of that corridor was better served leaving that area alone."
'Hope this is helpful.
Well, I have to say this - I think this development will be more attractive to buyers than the Ryan development down the road. Why anyone would build a brand new home that backs up to the Thruway and a bunch of power towers is beyond me.

You know what else is sad.... developers come into an area because it's cheap basically... kill all the animals that basically lived there... then have the nerve to name all the streets after them

Hey to all
I grew up on Fisher Road in the 70's & 80's, and my parents still reside there and I am just sick about this new proposed development...we're talking about the land that used to be the Fisher Road school way back when, yes? Kinda across the street from the horse barns? (Which, by the way, were the best place ever to play as a kid!)
I LOVE walking down Fisher Road, because it is one of the few green spots left in WS. (Even tho' the traffic is awful) Where are all the already pesty deer supposed to go now? They've eaten most of my mom's perennials...don't get me wrong I adore wildlife, but those poor critters are being ousted of every green spot left. I currently reside in Michigan and the same thing is happening here.
I, for one, as an old Fisher Road ALum, will be very sad to see that lovely expanse of "country road" butchered.
Very sad indeed. It was bad enough when houses went up in the Allendale School field, and the retirement home right next to it...I used to hike for miles along Smoke's Creek without a house in sight. Not so anymore.
*sigh*
Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately it appears as though there isn't much that can be done. They just put up the Priceton Estates sign and it says "Homes starting in the low 200's"...Is that all? Well gee, I'll bet there are tons of people that have that kind of money for a new build. Hell, just look at how well the ones down the road are selling.
I have sent emails to Bove alerting her to th fact that the flooding on Fisher is going to get exponentionaly worse due to the new 154 homes that are above the houses on Fisher. I have asked who is going to be held responsible for the damage due to the more powerful flooding but have yet to hear a response. Flood insurance (which we had to have due to being in the flood plain) doesn't cover the basement or it's contents, so the water would have to make it to the first floor before the Insurance would begin to cover anything.
When these homes (the ones currently on Fisher) were built the Army Corps of Engineers supposedly surveyed the land and creek and suggested where they be built to avoid the flooding. I'm sure they didn't take into account the Marrano Developement at Allendale and the "Princton Estates" (which is going to be located above the homes on my side of Fisher) into their thinking.
Beyond the displaced wildlife and the selfish fact that I'll no longer have privacy behind my house, the flooding and damage it will cause scare the crap out of me.
Hopefully Bove will have some answers. She was very helpful and full of info when the proposed WalMart was perhaps going on OP Rd, so I hope she comes through this time as well.
As in above an incline. Where water would flow downwards if it can't soak into the ground?the new 154 homes that are above the houses on Fisher.
Is that where the new builds are going to go?

The creek already travels the 800ft or so through the back yards on Fisher and floods the rd and crosses the street. That was before they cleared all of the vegetation up there. I can only imagine what it will be like when streets, basements, driveways, etc are added.
It's a shame.
Well, as I said before, I can see people wanting to buy these new homes alot more than those Ryan homes down the road. At least these homes won't back up to the noisy Thruway and a whole bunch of electric towers. I see those houses and think, man, you people are suckers. Good luck trying to get your money back on those babies someday.
