The proposed ECC downtown campus along Elm will kill development east of downtown.

Has anyone ever been to rochester and seen what the Inner Loop does to their downtown? It acts a noose separating downtown from its urban neighborhoods. There is no development downtown...and there is no development in the surrounding urban neighborhoods.

Well Building the ECC downtown Campus is going to act as a wall or barrier preventing interaction between streets to the west like Michigan, Pine, etc in effect preventing the downtown business district from growing to the east.

I have read many comments on Buffalo Rising and many want the ECC downtown Campus to be built away from the city along South Division, Swan or Seneca perhaps even connecting to the Larkin District.

A member of the CRTC also mentioned that the proposed airport extension of the Light Rail is supposed to run along South Division to the Larkin District where it meets the CSX tracks.

Another person mentioned that this barrier of ECC buildings running along Elm will force more demolitions in downtown ... which no one wants to see.

Just something to think about.

I agree with the movement along South Division. Not sure if getting property under the current plan is cheaper or more likely.
