    Election signs and Right-of-way

Suddenly, on the front page of the Town's website, there is this.

    Signs and Sign Placement

    Signs and Sign Placement

Please review Chapter 50-30 for requirements of sign placement.

Signs on public property, utility poles and R.O.W.'s may be removed and discarded.
Looking at Chapter 50-30, it states -

    (3) Signs on public property. No sign shall be placed in any street right-of-way or on other public property unless specifically authorized.
I don't know the exact location of the right-of-way on a county road without sidewalks. I'm going to contact code enforcement for the answer before my signs suddenly disappear.

Okay, moved my signs. Believe they are legal now. Lined them up with the house side of the utility poles.

Most towns have laws prohibiting all signs, including election signs, on the public right-of-way.

And most towns and candidates, including those running for town judge or county judge, or supreme court judge blatantly ignore the law.

Laws are for the little people.

The Forton Drive/Central Ave/Impala Parkway triangle is always littered with signs, obnoxiously littered by a particular group last year. Who owns that piece?

The town owns that and has stated no signs of any sort are allowed on the triangle any longer under the new law. That is why there are no signs there now.
