Even with a seating capacity that has 20k less seats and still not even sold out, the Bills games in Toronto are going to make $3M more per game.
These numbers will NOT help keeping the Bills in Buffalo once Ralph passes.
While there is some resentment in Toronto with the NFL coming to town, the hard truth is the Bills will not be in Buffalo after Ralph if they are playing at the Ralph.
a lot of mistakes made in this city , building the stadium in Orchard Park for one (after being sued & losing the Cottrel lawsuit because it was supposed to be built in another wrong area , Lancaster) , then having UB built in Amherst , thus eliminating any potential for a "college" town where you'd have approx 30,000 extra people needing food , banking , lodging , clothes , etc. , not coming up with a plan to utilize our fresh water supply waterfront , not building a "signature bridge" , fighting with "other" ICDIA's (sic?)....etc. But the Ralph may be the final nail in the coffin should ralph pass (& he will as we all will.......) The Bills are so symbolic to our area , must try & keep them at any cost (well not "any" cost , but within reason) , Los Angeles wants this team also , not just Toronto...........hate to be doom & gloom but.............:(Quote:

I know psychologically it would be a big blow to the region. It keeps us in the same league as big cities. But if the Bills moved out tomorrow, how would our economy suffer?

I think the UB argument is a little off. In order for UB to be the size it is today, massive sections of the city would have had to be taken down. It simply was not in the cards.Quote:

It is not just the boxes. It is the location. IF, and this is a BIG IF, the Bills are going to stay in Buffalo after Ralph is gone, they will need to become a regional draw. They need more boxes PLUS a better location.Quote:

With the stadium in OP, you would have to drive to the game is bad traffic. After the game you would drive back to your home or back to the city to stay overnight. A big pain in the ass if you ask me.
Now say you were an executive and the same call was made BUT the stadium was downtown. You think to yourself, I can drive down on Sat and do a late check in. Tie one on the town. Sunday I hit the game. If I need to, I stay Sunday night as well.
Add a casino to the mix and you REALLY have something. I think it would be a VERY easy sell for people to come to Buffalo.
The simple truth is for Buffalo to remain a competitive franchise AFTER Ralph is gone, the stadium is going to need to charge a LOT more per game. The only way to do this is to draw money from all around. This is simply not possible with it being in OP.
"developement" ALWAYS starts at the "HUB" & work your way out...........which means whatever it takes , start downtown............ECC City , D'Youville , UB Downtown , Multi-Use Stadium/Convention Center , all downtown , AH to dream.............Quote:

I agree on ECC. There was a long thread about it a while ago. I was in the minority in having it focus on downtown.

Kinda hard to have an impact when there is NOTHING around to impact. When I lived in Charlotte, Panther games brought in HUGE crowds before and after the game. They ate and drank....they also had a lot of regional fans from Raleigh who filled the hotels.
