Depew reachs out for "Grants" -
The Village of Depew is trying to get "Grants" to correct sewer lines and side walks !
I guess we should view this as positive ? :encouragement:
What it says to many is they have not been maintained and are in poor shape. It says that besides abandoned properties in Depew there's deeper issues that have been neglected.
First fact is "Grants" are tax dollar funded - they are not free money - they are from taxes taken out of your pocket. Fact.
Politicians act like their doing something that should be applauded !
They are just admitting that the local system has failed to do their jobs.
They say things like, "Well the monies there - if we don't get our slice of the pie - someone else will" - Its not a pie folks - its money you/we paid in taxes.
If theres a pile of tax dollars sitting there, its because we were over taxed - why not reduce taxes or give some back to those who paid it in the first place?
This is just another way for tax funded players to try and grand stand on issues they them selves can't/haven't fixed.
Local laws and codes require side walks - local taxes pay/paid for sewers - home owners are charged sewer line fees and maintenance assessments in their taxes - your local taxes pay for all those employed/appointed employees and Officials - isn't that true ?
So the Grants are tax dollar funded - politicians are tax funded - employees are tax funded - the grant writer is tax funded and what ever work that will be done will be tax funded.
So why should we applaud Politicians for having to ask other tax funded agencies for more tax dollars ? :rolleyes:
Where has all the past home owner tax funded revenues received by our local Governments gone ?
This is a continuing habitual dysfunction within Politicians and Governments - kick the can down the road - increase size of Government - then blame everyone else for known issues and problems.
The most galling part is when the media helps Politicians congratulate them selves for some imaginary accomplishment - ie - we got more tax dollars - hurray for us ! ! ! ! ! ! ! :eagerness:
