it started with schroeder and then higgins (get a hairdresser) Families try to help their youngsters because they want to continue to enjoy the fruits of politics. Higgins wanted his boy Fahey to succeed others and the establishment went along with it in their unholy alliances. Mickey Kearns is a real democrat. He should have been endorsed as the best candidate. He makes independent judgments on issues; he even tackled the Brown machine for the mayoral job. The people in South Buffalo know him as a bright and energetic representative and they resoundingly placed him there. If the party leaders forget that there are independent politicians who are good democrats and nominate someone they can push around, then the people will revolt. Andy SanFilippo started his run for City Comptroller and the best qualified man was not nominated by his own party. He turned to the other party and was elected by the people. Andy received thousands of votes on the working families party as a sign that some folks couldn't vote republican but wanted him. Kearns had the same thing happen. Pick a good candidate is what we ask of party leaders. No more dynasties (Rath, Quinn, Higgins, Hoyt etc.)
My vote for Kearns was also a vote against the Higgins machine.
