New York State doesn't pay anything. The net tax payers pay for this.

I'll find the link but it there is a sentence that states this program will also include "eligible non-citizens" So what is a non-citizen? Don't we pay for enough crap in this state as it is?

. There are three reasons why we have large student loan debt bubble. Not in our control is the high cost of attaining a college education, or the fact this is a very difficult job market, however students that choose fields that do not have public demand ie. basket weaving are responsible for their predicament on this level. Math is hard and not easy and you r college memories will be mostly of studying and not partying. STEM and medicine is where the jobs are, it's been that way for as long as I can remember. Expecting others to pay is just par for the course for this great nation of ours.

title should be "made poor choices, don't worry the taxpayers will bail you out"

my advice for people looking to go to college:
Go to community college first and get an associates degree. This is usually cheaper than a 4 year school and getting the associates will usually wave the "gen ed" requirements at a 4 year school if you decide to go on for the bachelors degree
Make you major something that is employable. I know people say you should study what interests you but if you're spending money on a degree it should be something that will get you a job. Make you hobby field of study a minor at most, or just a few classes
