What is the role of a town board supervisor? Are town board supervisiors supervising the towns or are they town board meeting organizers? It's one or the other. If it's meeting organizer why are they labeled town supervisor?
Getting it all done....
Have you noticed that very little is done over time? A lot of talk but few actual results. When there are results they are minimal. "After long and hard negotiations" property owners still end up getting the short end of the stick. The only people patting themselves on the back are those involved in the negotiations.
Building an A+ Team...
This might be tough because a town board is elected not hired. I wonder if this could be applied by the town board for various town departments.
This might be tough because of the friends and family issues when it comes to hiring.
The challenges of change.

I would have no problem if each the Town of Cheektowaga sent Diane and department supervisors to this.
where did u get this?
I still have quite a few magazine subscriptions and get mailers for these types of seminars. Some subscriptions are online only now instead of the paper versions.

The NY Association of Towns runs excellent training programs for all manner of town officials on best practices in most aspects of running town government. Many town officials attend and many good idea are discussed. There are town officials willing to take hard stands. In my town the supervisor and some board members stood firm over a period of years in negotiating with the police union until they finally won concessions including contributions to health insurance. Because of this the union worked to elect board members who will give them carte Blanche next time around. The tragic part is that they helped reelect the incredibly stupid and incompetent Debbie Bucki to our board. In the long term her election hurts everyone including the coppers. That's the difference between supervising in the private sector and the public sector.
