It was announced tonight at the town board meeting that the proposed budget calls for a 1% decrease in taxes. It was noted there will be an increase for fuel and black top due to rising oil prices.

Great. Can you find out if the decrease is in the tax rate or the tax levy? Also, I'm assuming the town is releasing the preliminary general town budget, not info on special districts (which is where you can find some extremely high tax increases). But if they do both, it would be fascinating to see how the fire departments are doing......
