This is a great idea. Frankly, I don't really think that paying $1000 for village taxes every year is worth it to the average resident. What do we get for that $1000? Garbage pick up and sidewalk snowplowing every now and then. We also pay more than town residents for the police department because they don't pay their fair share.

It provides jobs to people and functions in giving people another identity.

It is antiquated, expensive, redundant and not needed.

This area is loathe to change anything....it has really hurt us compared to other areas. I have lived in many.

We need some referendums on ballots this year. ;)

East Aurora has always been horribly run and expensive to live in. I grew up there and got out as soon as I could.

I'm glad---when I saw the garbage about people complaining about the ice rink that is NOWHERE NEAR a residential area, I just wanted to throw up.

Some of the snobbiest, selfish, nastiest people live in that town/village, and I'm sorry for that people that live there that are just trying to give their family a nice place to put down.

Maybe this will actually get the place in line.

because the village of Lancaster has 7 representatives, mayor and such, the town has 5, supervisor and such. Total 12 people representing Lancaster! Now we went down Central Avenue over the weekend, a new store finally opened up. But the store fronts all along Central ave is in shambles. But city hall looks lovely. Now why with the taxes so high are the store fronts run down, and to boot they are empty. What advantage is this board of 7 if they are not keeping up the village with such high tax base? Dumb, merge the town and the village, get rid of a set of governing.
