I'm not holding my breath. I doubt the Spaulding Fibre plant ever gets torn down...too many politicians involved. On the other hand, it certainly is an interesting location for a minor league hockey arena. There are a couple of businesses on Wheeler and Hinds that could really use the additional traffic. Plus, I'll be able to walk to the games...perhaps season tickets are in order ;)

As long as not one penny of tax payer money is used. If someone wants minor league baseball go use pilot field.

Res,

Taxpayer dollars are being used to remediate the site. Tear down the buildings and remove the contamination. The remediation was started over a year ago and might never be completed. It depends on which politician you ask. The government claims this will cost $4 million. It would probably cost a fourth if done by the private sector. Anyway, as far as I know, the proposed hockey arena would expect zero dollars in taxpayer contribution.

THe cleanup is fine. Other than that the tax payer doesn't need to support minor league baseball.
