The Citizens Flag Alliance, a group pushing for the Senate this week to pass a flag-burning amendment to the Constitution, just reported an alarming, 33% increase in the number of flag-desecration incidents this year.

The number has increased to four, from three.Putting aside for the moment our thoughts on a flag burning amendment, is this really the most important issue for the Senate to be spending time on right now?

It is just too bad that it cannot be communicated, precisely how offensive it is to persue causes such as this where there are so many more important things to be concerned about.

Waiting in the wings perhaps, GUN CONTROL. I saw the NRA's mouthpiece on TV last night bloviating about some United Nations proposal to ban private ownership of handguns.
