AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH

The Town of Amherst's small business are suffering due to lack of business and the need to improve their shops. Dan Ward has placed before the Town Board a plan to have a govermental unit in Amherst that would service the needs of small businesses. The AIDA hasn't helped small business owners in rebuilding and remodeling their shops with the help of tax abatements. They have given 15 year tax abatements to Uniland and several other rich developers. I guess small business have to wait until their business are crippled then they will be brought up by developers cheaply and they will receive tax abatements to fix them up,again

So, Ain't That The Truth, are you suggesting that if the AIDA were to offer incentives to all businesses - including whatever your definition of "small" business is - you would support the AIDA?
To be complete and fair in your comments, ATTT, you should report the incentives that the AIDA currently does offer to small businesses. (Unless, of course, you have not done your research - and therefore may not know that the do, in fact, offer small business assistance.)

Oh please! Do you actually believe that Bill Murray would (or even should) return your telephone calls? Think about some of your accusations and the derogutory comments directed toward him, his boss, and his employer. Think about it! There would be a snowballs chance in hell that I would return your calls if you were to attack me or my employer in that manner. And I suspect that most organizations would strongly encourage their employees to ignore communications from persons that adversarial.
Anyhow, I take it that you have no (or very limited) recent familiarity with AIDA programs or policy -- particularily in the matter of small business and redevelopment. If that's the case, you should stop and tale some time to learn about the agency and it's recent shift in direction. After you are fully familiar with programs and limitations, you may still be critical >>> but, at least, it will be with appropriate knowledge.
And for the record, I am not affiliated with or employed by the AIDA >>> I'm just a resident of Amherst. Actually, I think Jim Allen should be shopping his services to some other community (and the sooner the better).

Amherst Stakeholder your tone is that of someone who would like to get into a you against me contest. It will not happen .
By the way I was with Bill Murrary very recently and we had a very informative talkabout the AIDA . I do believe that Jim Allen should travel to a different Town.
If you want to use anger to cause a change in Amherst or in my thinking it doesn't work. Why don't you email the editor @ editor@speakupwny.com, he would like writers from Amherst with different views to write for him about whats really happening in Amherst from theirveiwpoint.

Well? Did you attend the most recent meeting of the AIDA?? You said that they meet every third Friday (or the month) at 8:00am. That would have made the most recent meeting last Friday 12/19/03. Politicians have a tendency to say they're going to do something and then not follow trough.
Don't tell me that you are cut from the same cloth.:)

I didn't attend the lastest meeting. I have in the past attended many( meaning more then 15 ). At the present time I 'm catching up with the relationship between AIDA and small businesses. The information that I asked for from the AIDA came and I have been reading it . Yes, some things have changed but hopelly I will stop on top of the AIDA.
By the way I did learn that the AIDA had no part in bringing GREICO to Amherst . There is an excellent account of how Geico came to Amherst ,in the Buffalo News EDITORIAL page b-6in the DEC.22,issue. I hope Geico works out well for the people of Amherst.

So you should now be happier, right? You're seeing that the AIDA does, in fact, place itself in a position to help small businesses... and you've confirmed that they didn't help a giant like Geico. That's what you want, right?
There are a lot of things wrong with the AIDA, but your prior comments didn't address any of them. And, again, Bill Murray's compensation has nothing to do with the matter whatsoever.
