There will be a nice price awarded to the winner of this hockey contest:
Here are the rules. Select one of the eight pre-drafted NHL Playoff Fantasy Teams. They're all balanced, so if you're not a hockey freak, just pick one. First Seven Members to claim a team are in and I am going to take the last one team remaining, the one no one wanted.
You'll see your players are from all different playoff teams. Everyone will have two goalies in the first round and be left with one after that since each teams goalies are matched up against each other in the first round. Only goalies can be substituted, meaning if Martin Biron gets the start over Ryan Miller, then he'd be your goalie.
You'll see you also have a Sabre forward as a bonus player.
Points:
Goals-1pt.
Assists-1pt.
Goalie Win- 1pt.
Goalie Shutout Win- 2pts.
Sabre Goal- 2pts. Sabre Game Winning Goal 3pts.
Sabre Assist-1pt.
Pick your team from Word file below.

..or pick your team from this Word Doc. -it's the same one minus the squiggly red lines.
Use your Back button on your browser after you view this file instead of closing it otherwise you'll close speakup, too.

I'm down with Team three. Team one was tempting... But I can't pass up Staal, Cheechoo, and Heatley as forwards.
And of course, Danny Briere as my Sabre.
GO TEAM THREE!

the Pinochlecheater claims team six. Read the thread and be careful not to claim a team that has been claimed already. You claim your team by posting your claim on this thread. First come first serve. Team 3 has been selected by Dino.

Teams 1,3,4, and 6 are taken.
That leaves teams 2,5, 7 and 8. That means only three teams left since I'l be taking the last team left.

I'll take team 2 with my favorite Sabre, Maxim Afinogenov!
Stevenco
April 19th, 2006, 06:04 PM
only teams 5 and 7 remain. that leaves one left for a member to pick, since i will take the last team left.
Did you ever get picked last in gym class when choosing up sides? How embarassing. I did, but it's because I was small, not uncoordinated. In Jr. High even the hippies with black gym socks and cut off jean shorts got picked ahead of me. What a scam. I could run catch and throw better than they could.
I'll post the point totals after each round.

If it's still available......I'll take lucky #7 and JR picks team 7, leaving me with the last team #5. - the team no one wanted- I can see why. Dominick Hasek(OTTAWA) in goal and Joe Thorton at center. Who'd want that? ...............:)
The draft is complete and the playoffs start Friday. Good Luck.

:) The management of SUWNY is sponsering this contest by awarding a Zebb's gift certificate (expires June 6th) to the team with the highest point total after two rounds of playoffs. This will occur in mid-May.
The is a suprise prize for the ultimate winner with the highest point total after the Cup Finals have been completed and the champs have been crowned.
 The TampaBay Lightning are the reigning champs. Who remembered that?
We had no Stanley Cup last year and they won it in 2004.
 The last goal in a Sabre playoff game was in 2001 when Darius Kasparitis beat Dominick Hasek in overtime of game seven to send the Penguins on to the Conference Finals and the Sabres to Brierwood.
I ate at Zebb's once in Orchard Park and I enjoyed it.:D

Hey Stevenco, will Hasek be playing in the playoffs? I know he's been hurt. In the interest of fairness, I suggest you're allowed to use his backup if the Dominator can't go.
The same should go with Robert Esche and Nitiimaki in Philly.
Just a suggestion.

It's elementary to keep your own total. Go to NHL dot com. They're keeping the totals for us. I set this up so it would be easy and breezy.
Don't worry about it. It's first grade math.

I meant no harm but what I said, i was just reacting to the do your own total remark. I 'm planing to do it at the end of each round; I know the nhl has each total and also for our Sabre choice the have the game break down so we know who has the game winning goal...like Kotalik did last night. If was vey nice of Philly to make sure Ales got the GW as the 3rd goal.

I still don't get the honesty thing. I'll post the totals after each round. Where does honesty or lack of it come into play? If you want to question my first grade mathematical skills, do it.
Tell me where honesty comes into it. You didn't explain that.

The honesty thing came in under my illusion that we were under the honor system whereas everyone kept their own totals and then posted them. I wasn't aware at the time you were going to post them. mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. (ie. my fault, my fault, my most greavious fault.)

Yes. The Game winning goals from non-Sabres are one point.
Game winners from Sabres are 3.
So it's easier to write it like this, Dino, to simplify it. Jon Cheecho (3G, 2ast) His game winner is the same as his other two.
--------
Staal got the 1pt. overtime winner for the Canes, tonight.

Infact, Dino, check you're total I see Cheechoo with 4 pts. Game Winning goal's are just Regular goal for non sabres . Cheechoo has 2 goals and two asts. Thats 4pts. One of his goals was a gw. It doesn't matter. Please do not complicate this. It's very simple. I'll post the scores after each round.

My bad. I thought game winners were worth two points for non-Sabres. That gives me 28 points through Tuesday's games. Still not too shabby!

There is no math for you. No math required by team owners.
Just very easy match for me. No problem.
Goals and assists: 1pt.
Sabre assists 1pt.
Sabre goals 2pts.
Sabre gamewinning goals 3pts.
Goalie Win 1pt.
Goalie Shutout Win 2pts.
A Sabre gamewinner is three points total, even though it's a goal and a game winning goal. It's not 2pts. because it's a goal plus 3 more because it's a game winner.
Game winning goals do not apply to non Sabre players.

Ragin's team is lookin' pretty good right now. Spezza is the point leader, followed by Kovalev and Heatly.
Also Brodeur got a shutout, tonight. NJ is having no problems with NY.
Thanks Stevenco! :)

...I know, that's a really low blow.
