army, navy air force, marines and coast guard, and this includes spouses. How many of us are on the board? I am thinking of putting out some veteran info but want to make sure there are enough folks to make it worth while. Using the polling feature so you don't have to give personnel info.

As you can see the great majority of us served, got out, and get nothing in return except proudly fly the US flag and pay taxes

4 out of 10 so far and 2 of the 6 retired with no disability rating, if they where in any kind of combat arms mos Those two had a bad VA rep.
Its almost imppossible to make it thru combat arms for 20 yrs without screwing up something on your body

You might want to sick with just local veterans issues or info because I unlike other vets use the DAV.org and my Military.com for our national issues. Moreover, I receive other veteran issues emails weekly from a number of sites.
"One main issue you might want to vocus in on is the VA Medical Center and how it will impact area veterans when it becomes a fully functioning private establishment within the next 5 yeras."
Another issue will be this Mr. Lyons fighting the US postal services which now will hire him but I fear he will be forced out after a few months...remember, he made waves and made the PS look bad on national TV. I worked for the PS back in 85 and was forced out due to my disability like other veterans.
On a national level you might want to focus on getting congress to raise our disability pay for those vets with 50% or higher disability ratings. with the high cost of living growing fast it is harder for us veterans who live alone to make ends meet.
There are many issues....choose one.

Why no Buffy I hadn't taken my computer over there and it hasn't died yet. Its playoff time and baseball season been busy watching the games, working around my house, playing ps2 games etc....getting ready to do some painting, gardening, flee mart walking, craft shows, etc.....just been busy.

EXCUSE ME ! do you know what you're talking about ! You know I don't think any veteran, combat veteran needs to justify their experience or disability to anyone. So, where did you come up with this--------> ( " Its almost imppossible to make it thru combat arms for 20 yrs without screwing up something on your body[/QUOTE] " ) and is this your understanding of how the VA rating system works.
Oh, BTW not every veteran who see combat will recieve wounds do to that experience but can be scared, messed up for their entier life. I'm not up set or mad yet...I just didn't like your interpitation of my veterans status in general dude.

Riven I have no clue what your talking about. Why do you think anything I said was directed at you?

Again Riven, I have no idea what your talking about. I didnt ask anyone to justify anything to me, I started a poll to see if there where enough vets on the board recieving disability to justify having a section devoted to vetrans issues, nothing more nothing less.

If a vetran is suffering from ptsd than they should be recieving disability. If they are not then I urge them to contact the va so they can get the care they need and deserve. If anyone needs the contact info I will be more than happy to provide it.
Thats the whole point of the poll to see if there are enough people on the board to get into those types of issues that others ( folks that are non military) wouldnt find interesting or informitive.

Thats your opinion riven and your welcome to it. Suffice to say I disagree.
The daily physical beating ones body takes doing pt, running, jumping and spending extending periods of times in the field or on manuevers in inclimate weather for 20 yrs of any combat arms MOS is sure to takes it toll on ones body. That has been my experiance. If you served for 20 in a combat arms mos and are not suffering from back, shoulder, leg, problems etc then more power to you, I occasionally volunteer at the VA and I can tell you, you are the exception not the rule.
Again though, thats not the point of the poll and if you wish to discuss that then please start another thread.

All Steven did was ask how many veterans are on board. His poll isn't clutered with to many types of descriptions. I saw the description of my service time and checked it. He didn't try to belittle or cast a cloud over anyone's military record. He didn't say anything about the CIB or your disability rating. He just wanted to know if we would appreciate him putting out an informational letter to help area veterans. I for one would like it.
