Town of Grand Island Receives Anonymous Cash Donation - April 2006
Friday, April 14, 2006 . . .
The Town of Grand Island received an anonymous cash donation on Thursday, April 13, 2006. According to Supervisor Peter A. McMahon, an envelope with a $10 bill in it, also included a note telling the supervisor to put the money into the "doughnut fund."
"We don't have a doughnut fund but we have a coffee fund so I'm going to put it there," the supervisor said this morning. "At this rate, it's going to take a long time for Grand Island to catch up to Amherst but we're only $4,990 short," he said.
The Buffalo News reported yesterday that $100 bills totalling $5000 were mailed to Amherst Supervisor Satish B. Mohan last week with a note of support for Mohan. The same article stated that Supervisor McMahon would be checking his mail more carefully!"
