Where are the rules WNY?

You close a thread because somebody on your web site doesn't want to meet person to person? Are those the rules?? Do you realize the implications of a rule like that - ever heard of predators?
You seem to make them up as we go! I'd hate to think that you closed the thread because your buddy Jimmy was getting his ass kicked! (regardless of your scorecard)
Maybe for once somebody on this site was standing up for what is right. If you really want the truth then do your own investigation. Talk to the union president, then the court employees (be sure you talk to the right ones - ask the union pres.) then talk to the personnel director, then the building commissioner. Get the information and report it on this site. Who not to talk to - any polititian, any appointed crony, any assistant dept head and any reporter. Half of them will lie, and half of them don't know - and none of them can be trusted.

You are 100% exactly right. Thats the whole point and that's why it's tough to ever believe what any of them say anymore.

The thread was closed seeing there was no reason to have a bickering match without any facts going back and forth. Would of been pointless. I just assumed if you had the truth "facts" you would just say here they are, see he's wrong. But it didn't happen.

Your not banned from the message board are you? You can still put your 2 cents in all you want but there's no reason to argue over something in a thread.

If you would like write up some counter story why he's wrong it will get posted write next to his if you like. Or email editor@speakupwny.com and state why the story should be pulled. Piece of cake. Personally i'm not sticking up for either of you two. We are just letting people put thier two cents in.

If you would like the thread can be opened and you two can continue to bicker through typing.

I have been following this Amherst board as the events unfold post-by-post (in this and the closed thread) and I have drawn a few conclusions to this conversation.

*This situation is more than just a bunch of guys BS’ing around on a Saturday night. This is going to take a lot more than a bucket of popcorn and a bunch of beers to get through. And I am convinced there’s a more personal aspect involved because of what’s been said so far.

*Both diogenes and Jimmy are going onward in this issue and neither one is forthcoming with what’s fact or fiction. One says one thing while the other insists it’s different and neither one of you are none-the-wiser when it comes to backing up your words. (You’re both at fault with that)

*In part, there’s a lot of incidental mumbo-jumbo in this board and name calling which is a turnoff for many of our readers. Who wants to come here and see this type of performance? Some may enjoy this kind of entertainment, but what about those who have the ability to see the serious prospective of the site? It’s become apparent that the closed thread is about a Main Page writer, which is a far cry from the secondary gabbing in the message boards. The foremost intent of SpeakupWNY (the main page) is informing our readers, yet a conversation like this defeats the purpose of having an Internet news site for the people, written by the people when there are people unwilling to support one another.

Furthermore, this discussion is way out of control. And it will only be a matter of time before readers of the site become bored with a continuous stream of nit picking and unshielded arguments without justification as to ‘who’s right, who’s wrong’. All I really see are a lot of assumptions and innuendos made by both of you while at the same time you having both said the opposite when it comes to the meaning of this issue.

What will we do when it gets to the point where the readers begin questioning all of the writer’s integrity and accountability from the main page?

Think about that question before either one of you (D & J) decides to post another message.

Reflect for a minute as to where the future of this site is headed and if we really want it added to the list of other “dead links” on the Internet.

This is what we know this far: diogenes has made a claim Jimmy is not revealing the truth in what he writes. Jimmy says that he is. But no one has feasible documentation to sustain these matters at hand. And so it becomes a circling chain of “am not, are too” proceedings. Simply stated, the additional accusations and implication are going nowhere.

I suggest, the Admin should consider pulling these threads and every one thereafter until both of you realize this site isn’t your own personal “bi^chin’ board” to gain individual extraction on one another, you guys can do that on your own time… not on everyone else’s

... and definitely not at the expense of this website.

See there was no need for this. Bicker about the issues in WNY not personality conflicts. Just lay the facts on the table and move on.

I understand your concerns for this site and concour with you. However, if stories are to be reported to you, don't you also want the satisfaction of knowing that they have been throughly researched and the sources are reliable.
Nobody can just throw a story out there, make all kinds of accusations - including criminal behavior, and not back it up with real facts. Not rumor, not inuendo, but cold hard facts!
This site has been very good toward that end, but we can't let our guard down. If a incorrect story goes out, and someone knows that it is not true, then in keeping with the fairness and openness of this site it should be brought out in the clear.
You seem to be overly concerned that it could be called "entertainment". Don't look down on that style. A point can be made many ways, and it doesn't have to be boring. This is my style. If you don't like it, that is your right, but don't say it's ruining the site. That's your opinion.
Please also refrain from asking people not to respond. That's what this site is all about. Pro or con, I welcome all responses.
You must think that you have a monopoly on this site, and any discerning views(in your eyes) are not welcome. I think not!
