Word is that his brother Jim got him some big job with either NYSDOT or Thruway Authority. Maybe he had to quit to take that job.

$90,000 Thruway authority job. Resigned from LA last week Town of Boston Monday night. Sounds like Hawkins Is sitting at the supervisor's Desk. Nice of them to keep everyone in the dark. Highway superintendant takes a vacation and gets reprimanded for not telling the Board. They used the excuse of what happened if there was a major disaster. Well wouldn't it be nice to know who's in charge of the town In case there was a major problem. Also I would like to know how many board meetings Mrs Dobson has not attended this year.

Has Hawkins been appointed by the Board to serve out the term or just put in there by billyboy? Either way, Hawkins has to run this year. Dobson is allegedly not running. Has billyboy passed his blessings on any candidates this year?

I would believe he would have been appointed by the Board. Rumor has it that Dobson was not going to run. That is why she has been missing meetings. Now that this has transpired she is going to run so the Dems have a better chance to keep control of the Town Board.

How do they fill Hawkins seat for the remainder of the year? When would this "appointment" taken place? It's wonderful what has been happening behind closed doors.

I don't know where you guys get your information, but according to the Town of Boston Website, Mr. Eagan is still your supervisor and Mr. Hawkins is still your councilman.

Unless of course with all the help in the clerks office the resignation letter has slipped through the cracks...............:rolleyes:

Eagan resigns as supervisor of Town of Boston
STORY BY: DANIEL MEYER
STORY POSTED: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10 AT 4:45 PM

Boston Town Supervisor William Eagan has resigned from his position as the town's top elected official.

The resignation, which is effective today (Wednesday, June 10), was announced in a letter that Eagan submitted to Boston Town Clerk David Shenk.

Eagan has served as the town supervisor for the past seven-and-a-half years after first being elected to a four-year term of office in 2001 and then being re-elected for another four years in 2005.

It was unknown as of late Wednesday afternoon who would replace Eagan as Boston's acting town supervisor. The four-year term of town supervisor will appear on the ballot this November.

More information about Eagan's resignation, including portions of his resignation letter, will appear here at www.thesunnews.net on Thursday, June 11.

The Buffalo News is reporting that the Town Board will be meeting at 4pm TODAY to discuss billyboys departure. The story claims they could appoint McGirr to be Supervisor. He is about as qualified as my bassett hound, and not elected by the people to boot. The people who care need to make a showing at Town Hall today at 4pm. Lets see if they let us in.

Mr. Hawkins is being sworn in as I type this. It has been in the works for a while. Seems The Dem's like to keep the people of this town in the dark as much as possible.

Hawkins named Boston supervisor
By Barbara O’Brien
NEWS STAFF REPORTER

The Boston Town Board on Thursday afternoon named one of its own, Richard K. Hawkins, to serve as supervisor until the end of this year.

Hawkins, a town councilman since 2002, will fill the seat vacated by William A. Eagan, who resigned effective Wednesday after accepting a job with the State Thruway Authority.

“I will try to do the best job that I can do,” Hawkins said shortly after he took the oath of office, with his wife, Linda, and two foster grandchildren at his side in Council Chambers of Boston Town Hall.

The board had accepted his resignation as councilman moments before appointing him supervisor.

Elected in 2001, Hawkins works in the maintenance department at Our Lady of Victory Homes of Charity.

Hawkins said he believes in keeping people in their positions regardless of party affiliation as long as they continue to do their jobs and does not foresee major changes in Town Hall.

“We represent everyone in the community,” Hawkins, a Democrat, said.

He said he plans to run for a full four-year term as supervisor in November.

He said there are several ongoing projects and issues in the town, including the construction of the new State Police barracks, water and drainage issues.

Town Board members praised Hawkins.

“Rich shows tremendous compassion for Boston residents whether he’s walking the Eighteenmile Creek or fighting fires in the middle of the night,” said Councilman James E. Pluta.

Board members also praised Eagan for his nearly eight years of service to the town.

In his resignation letter, Eagan cited as among his accomplishments his work on water districts, the installation of a traffic light at Boston State and West Tillen roads and reducing property taxes three times. He also noted the work of Town Board members and town bookkeeper Kathy Selby and his secretary, Julie Costello.
