Gee. It lasted almost 24 hours. But not quite.

Administration backs off Bush's vow to reduce Mideast oil imports

By Kevin G. Hall, Knight Ridder Newspapers

WASHINGTON - One day after President Bush vowed to reduce America's dependence on Middle East oil by cutting imports from there 75 percent by 2025, his energy secretary and national economic adviser said Wednesday that the president didn't mean it literally.

So... um... if he didn't mean it literally how did he mean it?

Reading the whole article, the part in question isn't the 75% reduction... but that the cuts won't all come from the Middle East.

"That means the new technologies could reduce America's oil appetite by the equivalent of what we're expected to import from the Middle East by 2025, Hubbard said."

Still, I don't believe they're serious about it. And anyway, using something as far aways as 2025 is bull***** in my opinion considering the man that said it will only be in office for 3 more years. We need more immediate results.
