If you are uninsured and your employer does not offer health care coverage, then you may be eligible for the Healthy NY Program.

May not be a match for you but I would at least look into Health Savings Accounts.

Don't we subsidize enough people as it is?

Yes, "we" do subsidize many people through our wage earnings. Each and every paycheck I receive contains a deduction called Medicaid Tax Witholding. There is no option to stop this "donation" that I know of.
However, there is an option to make a withdrawal: Medicare/Medicaid.

I believe that is Medicare Tax Withholding. Medicaid is taxed via property taxes.

I currently have Blue Cross/Blue shield, our office manager constantly shops for the best rate, so far they are it... and we change about once a year.
Right now I pay just under 700 dollars a month for a family plan, the coverage is pretty good.
If it was just me I would go for a cheap 100 dollar per month catastrophic plan,, that covers for disaster but not routine health maintenance issues.

Yes and no, you pay the county share by prop tax, the state share by income tax and the FED share by income tax.

Health insurance is something we should subsidize.
Why?
Just think it we stop subsidizing so many things, people would have to muchmore money in their pockets to spend on WHAT THEY WANT AND NEED, like HC. Or do you think people aren't competent enough to spend their own money?

Not all people but there are deffinetly some who aren't competent enough.
